Pathologist: Hanging would have broken Zahau’s neck

CORONADO, Calif. (CBS 8) - The results of a second autopsy on Rebecca Zahau were released Tuesday on the Dr. Phil Show, four months after she was reportedly found hanging off a balcony at Coronado's Spreckels mansion.
San Diego County Sheriff Department investigators ruled Zahau's death a suicide by hanging but her family believes it was murder.

It's amazing! I especially valued #51, 52, 53, 54, as those dealt with the guest room and the Juliet Balcony. It's so strange to see wall to wall carpeting a house that's that age. I preferred the rooms that still have wood floors. Based on the decor, I'd say the photos are several years old. Maybe even from the late 80's early 90's.. Thanks for digging them up!
I totally agree re. the carpet issue; to me, the house is beautiful on the OUTSIDE but the inside is ... ugh... dull, dull, DULL!! The "color schemes" are so 1990. There was not ONE photo that made me think, "GOD what a gorgeous home!!" Not one- apparently this was a McMansion gone wrong! I hope any new owners do this house justice... On a more somber note, I don't get the sense (with the pics)- that this was a HOME, a real HOME, to anyone. It was just a - house....:twocents:

According to KFMB, Dr. Wecht appeared via satellite on the TV show and reported, "I lean very strongly toward it being a homicide - something involving foul play - and lean very strongly against it being a suicide."
Dr. Wecht said Zahau's neck was not broken and he believes it would have been had she committed suicide, given the nine-foot drop off the balcony described in her initial autopsy report, reports KFMB.
During his autopsy, Dr. Wecht also examined four head injuries that did not break the skin but caused bleeding underneath Zahau's scalp.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner reportedly described those head injures as "relatively minor" and said in a September statement that "she may have struck her head on the balcony on the way down."
Dr. Wecht disagreed with this theory, KFMB reports.
"You have to have blunt force trauma. You have to have the head impacting against some object four times; or be struck by something four times in a round, blunt force nature," said Dr. Wecht.

Attorney: 'Bondage *advertiser censored*' found on Coronado mansion computer

During a seven-week investigation into Zahau's death, investigators at the San Diego Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory took a close look at at least two computers inside the mansion, said Zahau family attorney Anne Bremner.
On at least one of the computers, the forensic examination found *advertiser censored*, according to comments posted Friday evening on Bremner's Facebook page.
In a phone interview with News 8, Bremner later confirmed that more than a dozen searches of sexual content – using terms like "raped, sexy Asian girls, and bondage anime" – were accessed on a computer the day before Zahau's death.
"It's important to the investigation because there is an image from anime, and its called bond anime and it shows an Asian women bound; at least her hands are bound behind her back," said the Seattle-based attorney.
Bremner said it was not Zahau who looked at the online content and suggested the computer may have been accessed by someone using an airline account.
"Someone accessed Rebecca Zahau's computer from SW Airlines before she died. Someone also accessed her computer after she died," reads a current posting on Bremner's Facebook page.
"Never in a million years would she have those fantasies; and never in a million years would she even look at *advertiser censored*," said Bremner told News 8. "There was somebody interested in doing her harm, with these kinds of searches."
Bremner said the computer forensic report shows no searches that indicated Zahau killed herself.
"When they searched computers and her phone, they didn't find any searches for rope, suicide, hanging – anything like that," said Bremner. "What they did find was this (*advertiser censored*), which is consistent with somebody else doing it and it's important to find out who that is."

Exclusive: Max Shacknai’s aunt talks about Coronado mansion deaths
In a series of emails and interviews with News 8, Bremner said the witness now believes the woman he saw was Nina's sister, Dina Shacknai.
"The witness sent me a picture of Dina and said it was Dina," according to Bremner, who said the witness was riding a bicycle by the home at approximately 10:20 p.m. on July 12.
"He was going by and saw somebody with a large, black bag trying to get in the front door and looking around and going to the back of the house," Bremner said. "She was 40 to 50 years, 5'5", 170 to 190 lbs., long dark hair; wearing a black and white striped short sleeve shirt," said Bremner.
"He is positive it (was) Dina and she was acting very suspiciously," Bremner wrote. "He has seen subsequent news reports that said Nina was out front and he said that's not the person he saw."
The witness may have mistaken Romano for her twin sister, who was at Children's Hospital by her son's bedside throughout the evening of July 12 and into the morning of July 13, Romano said.

I thought I would post these articles about Power Balance. No surprise to me. Glad this company was discovered for the scam that they were running and taking advantage of consumers. Endurance and commitment comes from self. I believe that Rebecca was wearing one when she was found that fateful morning.

Power Balance LLC may have to shell out $57 million for bogus athletic-enhancing bracelets

CORONADO DEATH INVESTIGATION - FAQ’s

Why did you rush your case?
We had between seven and fifteen investigators, in addition to Crime Lab personnel, looking into this case for seven weeks exclusively. There was no ”rush to judgment,” there was simply a large number of resources dedicated to this investigation full time. For the first seven to ten days of this investigation, it was widely believed among investigators this case was more likely to be a homicide. As the evidence began to come in, however, that belief began to change. Ultimately, the evidence convinced everyone involved this case was a suicide. No “rush to judgment,” no “tunnel vision.”

How did she learn these complex knots?
We don’t believe she did. These knots were not as complex as they have been made out to be, which is what we discovered when we attempted to recreate the knots on Rebecca’s wrists. Simply stated, this is one of those questions which will most likely never be answered with any certainty.

The True Heart of Rebecca Zahau

By Bill Manson | Published Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011

“I didn’t ever meet Jonah’s ex-wife,” says Mary. “I just know that she was making Becky’s life difficult. I think she was rude to her a lot of times, requesting that Becky not attend any function with the kids, especially Max. Things like that.”
Was Shacknai in love with Becky?
Mary hesitates.
“I don’t know. I couldn’t read [them]. I mean, were they affectionate with each other? No, not really. Not in front of us. If I saw them, I probably wouldn’t get that impression.
