I know.

Hello, Bluewater and Motorola.

*sigh*

Do you have a link to the PC crime statistics that drew you to the conclusion that is dangerous?

Prentiss Cooper is a wonderful forest with well managed resources.

Only thing that slows me down on a birding hike is what areas are closed for hunting:

http://www.tn.gov/agriculture/forestry/stateforest07.shtml

Prentice Cooper Hunt Dates - Spring 2011

Prentice Cooper State Forest and Wildlife Management Area will be holding managed turkey hunts on the dates listed below. The area west of Highway 27 (Suck Creek Road) will be closed to visitors except hunters on these dates. The area east of Highway 27 including Edwards Point will remain open to the public during these hunts.
Apr 5-10, 13-15, 21-23
Apr 26 - May 1

Also:

• Some areas are closed from late April through early July to encourage turkey nesting. Turkeys do not like to be disturbed during the nesting period, therefore some areas are closed to motorized vehicles during this time. Areas closed include: Tower Drive south of Pot Point Road, Elder Point, Long Point and Inman Point.
Please forgive if this has already been linked! Map of the forest at the link which you must have since you are so familiar with PC.

This map shows where the counties are:

Oriah,

Curious if you have seen the comment posted on May 17th at the bottom of this article:

The poster noticed a jeep that he has wondered might have been GP’s.

The tornado’s damage brought many unfamiliar cars to rural areas for a variety of reasons so again the unique situation makes the relevance questionable but since you are so kind as to be searching I wanted to make sure you were aware of this.

I know that some roads on Sand Mountain were impassable due to roadblocks protecting the residents destroyed homes.

So even if the original intended route may have been to ride down Sand Mountain the back way to lower Alabama a detour may have had to be taken off the mountain down into GA.

all imo

There are a lot of natural hazards inherent with wilderness areas.
I do have the link, thank you!

This has always caught my attention re: several 'sightings'.
Wonder if folks have been watching the hunting sites? If not, it's a good place for raising awareness of Gail and her Jeep.

ETA: WMA's usually keep logs for managed hunts. Wonder if they have been checked? Someone may have seen something.

IF we are to believe what CC claimed, she was last seen on Big Fork Rd between 4 and 6 pm on the 30th of April.. Is that fact, error or just a "Red Herring" Should her claim be toally disregarded?

Very frustrating, in many regards. Why no mention of the description of the truck she supposedly pulled up to? Nothing from LE or CC, nor the fact the reporter didn't ask her? This would have been important info for the public that just may have jarred someone's memory. There has been nothing further reported..and it was weeks after the sighting before LE took their first looksee and it was actually reported. ?? IMO...it wasn't her.

This would be the 27, 24, 75 route. Is that correct?

BBM

From looking at the map, the areas listed for hunting are west of Rte 27 which is not within the boundaries of the Forest...so I'm a little confused with this info. ??

Thank you, Jade.

BBM Do you mean County Road 75 in Alabama?

http://www.epodunk.com/cgi-bin/genInfo.php?locIndex=8247

GA State Road 136 down to Trenton is where I think the poster is talking about.

The route could be gotten to from either Interstate 24 New Hope exit, or down from Prentiss Cooper/Sequatchie area, or from State 64 / 41 all to eventually go up Sand Mountain at New Hope

Hogjaw Valley Road is the only name I have heard for that road up Sand Mountain. There is a flea market I have been to at the top. On the map it is called 377 in TN and then AL County Road 73

Or Interstate 24 to Interstate 59 to Trenton exit then up the mountain on State Road 136 only to have to come back down again becouse of the roadblocks.

Confusing enough!

It is a State Forest and Wildlife Management Area.

The hunting areas are only closed to other recreation at designated times otherwise it is open to visitation.

Wildlife Management=hunting

WHY her claim was handled as it was, I don't have the answers but at the present time I'm not convinced it wasn't her.. Just don't know..
Seen too too many instances where people have attempted to throw out red herrings and derail an investigation..
Right now, I do not know what to believe other than I feel certain Gail is not missing due to her own volition and I strongly believe foul play is involved.JMHO

Confusing indeed, especially considering the circumstances surrounding Gail's disappearance.

I have a couple calls in about what was closed- and when.

Respectfully snipped

:deadhorse:

Prentiss Cooper is not a place I would assign as a dangerous wilderness

Not subject to extreme day/night temperature variances

No flash floods or large predator attacks to worry about.

Certainly nothing like parks and forests I have visited out west.

Even the creeks are not deep or swift moving

There are a few scenic vista points but the trails are wide and well kept

Here is a video that is what it looks like for the most part

Perhaps you misunderstood my post?

I am referring to the route of travel Gail may have taken in her Jeep.

I hope this poor woman is found. From what I've researched, a lot of the suspicion is on the husband right now. From the looks of it, I would find it reasonable to blame the husband for her disappearance. Just IMO.

Thanks, believe09.

I'd rather sleuth the location of Gail's Jeep...
I've been staring at maps for weeks now.

Very frustrated at the lack of discussion re: her last seen location, and her direction of travel.

Sorry, Oriah. I wish this would help, but I believe not. In my opinion, the reason Gail and her Jeep can't be located and the reason her direction of travel doesn't really matter is because she didn't make it very far at all. No word on her or the Jeep after this much time tells me that she and the Jeep are very close. She wasn't spotted "out there", driving down the road or parked or walking around and seems to have just disappeared because she and that Jeep are right here under our noses. It is my opinion after following these types of cases before that she went off the radar really close to home. It's been over 3 months. Every week that passes, the theories start to dwindle. If she committed suicide she would have been found or the Jeep. An accident? Same thing. I have never worked in domestic abuse shelters and such, but I find it extremely unlikely that any reputable place that assists women in DV situations would advise a mother to just disappear for months with no word and leave her children. So, in my mind, that blows that theory. She just left on her own? Sorry- the children. Not buying it. So, I am left believing in my heart that some harm has come to Gail at the hand of someone else and it was done immediately after she dropped off her kids and she and her Jeep are very very close to home. That is why searches are imperative. But, no one is searching. I've never seen anything like this. Unbelievable. And, when volunteers do try to help by gathering together for a search, they are criticized. And it doesn't help that it's 98 deg. outside every day. So, looking at maps and trying to determine which way she went, in my opinion, only helps if people are going to get out there and look at those areas. I guess in this crazy world anything is possible, but nothing else makes sense to me at all anymore. I keep hoping that as mentioned before, maybe someone will have a few too many or get scared and start talking. I just hope and pray for Gail's children, family and friends it doesn't take 10 years. So sad. :twocents:

The fact that Gail was certain someone was following her has always bothered me. I don't believe that Gail was actually paranoid as MP indicated; rather, I think there was a rational basis for her fears that she was being followed.

Going with the foul play theory, I came up with another idea that is not real likely, but still within the realm of possibility: What if a 'twisted' individual put a different meaning to the Jeep's personalized plate, "Eazy St", (Gail's AL lake house address was *advertiser censored* Easy Street), perhaps inferring that Gail was stating she was "easy" or "having it made", and the "sicko" either took personal offense or became strangely attached to Gail and commenced stalking her. Maybe she was abducted by a stranger?

A personal note: several years ago, I had a personalized license plate on my vehicle. As in Gail's case, the meaning of the personalization was totally innocent and had sentimental meaning; however, some twisted person misinterpreted the two words and left a nasty note on my windshield while my vehicle was parked outside of the college I was attending, insinuating that I was (paraphrasing here) awful for driving around with that plate on my vehicle. Needless to say, I was shocked and...if one person bothered to write a note, how many others twisted the meaning?

So did the words on Gail's license plate possibly bother some people and one of them acted on it? It sounds as though she did drive the Jeep alot!

(Of course, there are other possible scenarios for being followed: MP's GFs harrassing her, MFH plot, PI, and so on...)

Side note: the HCSO spokesperson has repeatedly said, as recently as 8/1, that there has been no evidence of foul play, but, how on earth, could LE have evidence if they didn't actively search for it early on?

At the very least, family member interviews, property searches, intensive ground and air searches, obtaining cell phone records for Gail and all who were communicating with her, forensics of all family-related computers, etc.,
unless they know something we don't know that would cause them to hold back from performing these routine investigative steps in trying to locate a missing person. But what could that possibly be?

As always, IMO.

Anyone know IF there are any volunteer well trained SAR's in the area that would help search for Gail?
Do they need LE's approval to search?

Em - I found these two K9 SAR organizations in TN:

http://trustterra.org

http://cumberlandK9SAR.org

I think SAR teams in other states would be open to conducting searches, too.

DN has been so openly supportive about all the efforts others have made on behalf of finding Gail that I don't see why she would oppose a K9 SAR search. Maybe someone will suggest the idea? I think an SAR search will answer alot of questions. IMO

I think the local searches that have already been done and future searches coordinated by local citizens are great but I do believe trained SAR dogs and handlers need to do what they've been trained to do in the rugged terrain areas as well as water ways. JMHO

Thanks, Some1.
I'm sure there are several SAR groups who would be willing to assist in a search.

Regarding the issue of locating the Jeep, mentioned upthread a bit- I don't believe it is futile. I am interested in all possibilities re: direction of travel when leaving the SM home AND the lake house. Whether the Jeep was headed down one street, then another, then another, etc. What might be encountered along those various routes. People? Environment? Witnesses? Pings?

IMO, this is vitally important information in locating Gail.

Posting for reference.

Quick question. When Matt filed for the separation, possession of the home, the RO, and temp custody of the kids, I know he filed to dissolve those motions, but did he file to dissolve the temp custody or was he granted it?

The reason I ask is that I swear I saw an article that said the temp custody was granted, and there's an attorney's blog that says he was granted custody, and there's an article that says an order from that time period was extended.

If it wasn't temp custody, then what order would have been extended?

I can't find that article that said the chancellor had granted the temp custody, although I spent a significant amount of time searching for it yesterday. It was a very small article - just a few sentences in one or two short paragraphs IIRC.

Gimme a sec and I'll grab the attorney blog link and the other article link.

ETA: Scroll down to the May 11 entry. Sorry. I can't find a way to link to the individual post.
Matthew Palmgren now has obtained a court order for full custody of his two children.

On May 6, he filed for legal separation from her in Hamilton County Chancery Court and for temporary custody of their 12-year-old son, J, and 9-year-old daughter, L.

Palmgren’s attorney, Bryan Hoss, filed a motion Tuesday to continue the order because Gail has not been located and is considered a missing person by authorities. . A chancellor is scheduled to rule on the order on June 3.

That would have been May 17 the motion to continue the order was filed.
