Hamilton County cold case investigators trying to identify missing woman
August 31st 2020, by Michelle Heron rbbm.
''Investigators need your help identifying a woman who went missing a decade ago.

They don't know who she is or exactly where her remains may be, but it's not stopping cold case detectives from trying to solve the case.

"We're trying to generate some type of lead," Hamilton County Cold Case Unit Supervisor Mike Mathis told reporters during a press conference Monday''.
''Standing outside the facility where detectives investigate 200 unsolved homicides and missing person reports in Hamilton County, District Attorney Neal Pinkston and Mathis made a plea.

"If you've got a loved one who went missing 2009, 2010, 2011, I don't want to be so specific on a time frame because I don't want someone not to call us. Call us and let's talk and we'll figure out if it's related or not," Mathis said.''
Information from that individual in the past has proved to be reliable. It's kind of a happenstance that this information was provided to us," Pinkston added.

The tip was about a white woman, murdered about 10 years ago and stored in the trunk of a Lincoln Continental for a period of time in the parking lot of what used to be Dagwoods Bar on Highway 58.

Her body was then dumped a few miles away in the area of Highway 58 and Hickory Valley Road.''

Possible decade-old homicide focus of Hamilton County cold case investigators
Aug 31 2020 rbbm.
''According to the information received, Pinkston said, the woman's body was stored in the trunk of a Lincoln Continental for some time before later being dumped somewhere near the area of Hickory Valley Road and Highway 58.

No missing persons were reported during the same period — a few years before or after 2010 — or homicide cases opened, Pinkston said.

Because of that, they don't have any information about who the woman was, how old she was, where she came from or what she looked like.

All they know is that she was a white woman who visited the Dagwood restaurant about a decade ago.

She could have come from another county or another state, Pinkston said. That's what his office has been trying to determine, but it's been difficult to come up with any leads due to the way records were kept in that time period, he said.

Pinkston and cold case unit supervisor Mike Mathis said Monday they hope media attention can help generate leads.''

Cold Case Unit
''At any one time, the unit is reviewing at least a half dozen cases, continually re-prioritizing as new leads are received.

The public can play a key role in solving cold cases, so we ask you contact us if you have information -- no matter how insignificant it seems. What may not seem important to you could end up being a huge part of the overall puzzle we need to complete to give a victim's family answers. ''

There’s the Chickamauga Lake and Harrison State park north of the location. South of the location, there is a large retention pond. To the east is I-75 and to the east of that appears to be a slough, likely manmade from when the interstate was built. Not a lot of rural green areas close by.

How do they know the deceased was in the trunk of a Lincoln before being dumped?

Cold Case Homicide Reopened - WDEF
''HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF)- Hamilton County District Attorney Neal Pinkston is seeking help from the public to solve a homicide and potential missing person case.

“The cold case has gotten reliable and credible information that a female was murdered around 2010 -give or take a year.”

Authorities currently have not identified the woman.

Investigators believe her body was stored in the trunk of a Lincoln continental at a now closed bar, named Dagwood, off highway 58.

“It was a white female that was murdered and was then transported and dumped in the area of highway 58 and Hickory Valley Road.”

Payroll Nerd is spot-on with the geography, a major Interstate junction.

More specifics about the car & the deceased would help -- sounds like that's what LE is looking for?

Anyone else read this bolded sentence and automatically think organized crime or gang activity? Someone's an informant and is talking. But why? Are they aging quickly and want to settle their conscience? JMO

me too. For a minute I thought this should be moved to unidentified but it sounds like they don’t have any remains??
Had a hard time deciding which forum and what thread heading to assign this unusual situation.
LE seem to be very certain that if X (tipster) told them about a white girl's body getting dumped circa 2010, it happened!

DA Seeking Information On Cold Case Involving Woman Who Was Murdered And Body Stored In Lincoln Continental At Dagwood's On Highway 58

Neal Pinkston and Mike Mathis
''Hamilton County District Attorney Neal Pinkston and the Cold Case Unit has asked the public to help with a cold case investigation. Around a decade ago, a woman was killed in the Hickory Valley area, but no body was ever found and her identity is unknown.

“She was, for a time period, stored in a Lincoln Continental vehicle that had been parked at a bar on Highway 58 called Dagwood’s, which is no longer in business,” DA Pinkston said. “The white female was murdered and then dumped in the area of Highway 58 and Hickory Valley.''

''DA Pinkston said the source who provided the tip has given true information in the past, and that they have known about the case within the last 18 months. Investigator Mathis said the individual has no reason to be lying about or fabricating details about this incident.

Investigator Mathis said that aside from knowing her race and the car she was found in, investigators know nothing else about the missing person. He also said that there are some details of the investigation that cannot be released to the public.''

''DA Pinkston said “no body” homicides are not irregular around the country. He said there have even been a few of those variety within Hamilton County
. He also said that once investigators do receive credible information, they will act upon it right away.''

Wondering if there might be any connection to this gang? speculation, imo.

I was looking at TripAdvisor. There is a 14 year old comment regarding Dagwood's. It was considered a biker friendly bar but I don't think they meant 'biker' bikers, iykwim.

I'm thinking old biker bar patron + Lincoln Continental = old, beat up, vehicle? If the model was retired in 2002, then maybe it was at least 7 years old, assuming the murder was in 2009ish?

Lincoln Continental - Wikipedia

In 1981, the Continental was renamed the Lincoln Town Car to accommodate the 1982 seventh-generation Continental. After 2002, the Continental was retired, largely replaced by the Lincoln MKS in 2009; in 2017, the tenth-generation Continental replaced the MKS.

I live in Tennessee and it is common around here for people who have gotten picked up for drug charges to give up information on other crimes in return for a lighter sentence. For example I know someone who was picked up for having a large enough quantity of drugs to be charged with dealing and they were already a felon but they turned over information on an unsolved armed robbery and got the charge reduced to simple possession. It was the difference between prison time and jail time. That could be the case here as well someone is gave up what information they has for lesser charges.
