I think that it was pretty clear all along that it was the husband. Another horrible and useless death through domestic abuse! Just hurts my heart!

RIP Heather and Bless her children and the rest of those who loved her! :(
 
Just awful news. To all, please support any efforts you may know of to help end domestic abuse, these sad outcomes are happening at an increasingly alarming rate.

Rest in peace Heather, be assured justice will be had and your death will not be in vain.

A judge ruled Wednesday that statements made to police by Chris Jones, former husband and accused killer of Germantown teacher Heather Palumbo Jones, will be admissible at trial...

During an early police interview, Jones tearfully admitted that he and his former wife were struggling over a cellphone when she lost her footing, fell, and fatally cracked her head. Saying that he wanted to give his late wife a “viking burial,” Jones admitted he burned her body, then led police where he left it in a wooded area near U.S. 64...

The case is set for trial Oct. 6.

A story that began with a frantic search for a missing Germantown woman in 2013 is set to begin its final chapter this week as her estranged husband faces a criminal court jury, accused in her killing.

Chris Jones could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted of first-degree murder in the asphyxiation death of Heather Palumbo-Jones, who prosecutors say was growing increasingly fearful of the defendant as court dates loomed in the custody battle for their children...

Jury selection is expected to begin Monday with opening statements to follow on Tuesday.

Jury selection in the trial of Chris Jones came to an unexpected end Monday after a defense attorney said the judge had violated criminal procedure by mentioning the possibility of a life sentence in front of prospective jurors. Judges and attorneys are not supposed to discuss the possible sentences faced by a criminal defendant, which in this case include life in prison or life without parole, said defense attorney Kindle Nance.

"I made a mistake," said Criminal Court Judge Bobby Carter to dozens of jurors when they filed back in after a break. "I should not have discussed with you the potential punishments in this case"...

All of the jurors are now being excused, and the judge has granted the defense's request to bring a new batch of jurors Tuesday morning.​

After Palumbo-Jones successfully left Chris on Jan. 1, 2013, Perry said she was afraid of him. “After leaving, she was fearful. But she was so happy. She was happy to be away from him,” Perry said.

Perry read to the jury from an email she received from Palumbo-Jones the morning after her phone went missing. “I am still so creeped out that (Jones) snuck in and stole my phone while I was sleeping," Palumbo-Jones wrote.

Perry began weeping as she read her late cousin’s words.

Chris Jones did not testify Thursday, but was nevertheless the star witness at his own trial as jurors watched hours of police interview footage showing Jones vehemently denying knowing what happened to his missing wife, then tearfully confessing to detectives that he dumped her body after a tragic accident...

Jones said he “found a beautiful little spot for her,” where he laid out her body and used leaves to light it on fire.

A detective responded, “Bodies don’t just burn that easily.” Jones replied, “I might have had a little gas left in my can.”

Just watched the Dateline episode. Very good show of Heather's life and accomplishments. She had a great support system of female friends. Her husband was quite smarmy and a very bad liar. Reminded me of Scott Peterson. What made him think he could get away with it is beyond me. Rest in peace, Heather.
