Found Deceased TN - Riley Strain, 22, missing after leaving bar, Nashville, 8 March 2024 #3

I don't know how they can ever "make a law" to prevent drunk people (or people in general) from having bad things happen to them. If he had been dropped off in front of his hotel or even in the lobby, something bad could still happen. He could just leave again, for example.

If he had been slipped something, even if he had gone to his room, he could have gotten sick without anyone knowing it was happening.
well, everyone who goes out drinking has to wear a PFD. as with boating, you accept that you may wind up in a body of water and disabled, so you just prepare for it. (not entirely sure that I am joking)

I wish more streets, parks, and especially the riverfront had CAMERAS!
In London, there are cameras everywhere. With footage, a lot of guesswork would be solved by now.
If I was an investigator I'd want these drunk districts to have cameras everywhere.

There are a lot of cameras. All over Broadway, down these avenues where things actually are
This is why there's Riley on film a lot of places.

I have walked all over First Avenue, Riverfront Park, etc. I don't even know how to legitimately get to the river. Because walking near it, i have never, not ever come anywhere close enough to the river to have any danger of falling in it. If i had been falling down drunk, i would have fallen on the street, on the grass, on the sidewalk, onto a building or car or person. Because that's usually what happens.

Nashville is not some kind of port city. So, there's not dock activity that is common. There are barges that operate out of Nashville, i guess there are cameras around there.

At this point, no one knows anything about what the fraternity brothers may have been feeling -- none of them have provided that information, so it's all assumption. In their defense, they didn't know what had happened and may have assumed that he either met a girl and went home with her, or fell asleep in a park or wherever and would show up with an entertaining story that they would laugh about for years. I don't get how it's possible to pass judgement on these young people when absolutely nothing is known about their side of things?
They worried enough to call the police (and his parents) to report him missing, no? Reported him missing that very morning?
They didn’t even wait for any of the scenarios you mentioned above to become a reality.

Do the music venues along Broadway such as Luke Bryan's allow patrons to shoot video inside the venue? iirc, Riley's mom said he had facetimed with her while inside one of the bars.

A few years ago, I was visiting colleges with my son and decided to cross into Canada at Niagra Falls. Our hotel had an adjacent casino. My son won $200 the first time he was at the slot machine. I snapped a photo of him and within seconds, security told me photos weren't allowed and we needed to leave.

I’ve seen a few videos on YT where people have filmed music performances and overall shots of the Nashville bar interiors inc one of Luke’s the night he went missing. I imagine that’s hard to police or else most don’t care. Maybe a casino is different given what folks are doing there - think security, theft, watching cards, etc.

Thanks. That place is so large, I bet they have a lot of security.

afaik, no reason has been given for why Riley was booted-out, but I believe his family has been told. I was wondering if it was because he was facetiming or in some way communicating with a member of his family and security felt it was disruptive to the musical performance.

Right, it was discussed here early on that the family contact, Chris Dingman, said there was no fight or altercation, but it had nothing to do with Riley using his phone or camera inside. Chris stated they asked him to leave due to him dong something he did being against their conduct standard rules and that Riley was actually trying to be helpful. Folks here have wondered if perhaps he was trying to intervene in a fight between a girl and a guy or perhaps had an issue with a bartender. Hard to know. But nothing we’ve read had to do with Riley using his camera on his phone that I’m aware of.

Honestly, I doubt that's what happened although obviously we can't know at this point. Casinos very often have rules about no photography and no cell phone use. So far as I understand it, that's partly to protect the privacy of other patrons. A casino that is known to allow photos to be taken and perhaps later published/posted may make some people very nervous. Bad for business! Also though, use of phones brings up issues of potential cheating at some games and has the potential to slow down play. None of that would be an issue at Luke's or the other Nashville bars the group went to.

I expect what happened is pretty much what we've been told. He'd had a fair amount to drink at other bars that night. My guess is after the first drink at Luke's he was "cut off" or his bill wouldn't have shown he purchased two waters. Once he tried to "help out" in a situation, those efforts brought his level of intoxication to the attention of bar security. It was decided he should go, probably from concerns about what other "helping" behaviors he might exhibit in the future. So he was booted.

I wonder if the police or his family checked to see if any of the businesses on the other side of the river have any cameras on their roofs that point down to the river and possibly would show where he entered the river at?

There is a large business on the other side that the PI said he was trying to obtain footage from. I would hope and assume LE also had it and if anything was relevant we’d know. @SF_Investigates - can you help here regarding this as I know you tried to obtain it?

IIRC, there were three video cameras on that building, and Riley's family was able to get access to one of them. But they also want to see the other two videos from the other cameras. My understanding is that the building is a jailhouse or prison (some kind of detention center) and the building is under the authority of LE, so I am assuming that there are likely some security issues/clearances that make it difficult to get access to those videos. JMO and going from memory here.

Oh, over on Gay Street? That's where Night Court used to be. It might still be, idk. It's probably still something LE-related. It's not a prison though. It's not big enough for that. It had more like temporary holding (like a few hours), but it wasn't a jail either.

In college, we used to go over and observe what went on in night court. It was all non-violent stuff. It used to be swarming with cops, obviously. So, this is why i wonder if it's something else now.

You were in a casino. There aren't any casinos in Nashville.

People take pictures in all kinds of bars and restaurants now. But i have never been in that one specifically. I think we would have heard about it if they had some weird anti-phone policy.
