The jury was dismissed. Kaitlin Armstrong was brought up front to the judge. The courtroom went silent. Her defense attorney Rick Cofer explained to her her rights and asked her if she would like to testify on her own behalf. It was an incredibly serious conversation and you could hear a pin drop in the courtroom. Armstrong said she does not wish to testify in this murder trial. She was then escorted out of the courtroom. There is now a sidebar with the judge with both attorney teams, but I believe the defense is sharing that they are resting their case. Standby for official confirmation.

Jury was dismissed and all of the lawyers along w/ Kaitlin Armstrong huddled around judge. Rick Cofer told KA there were pros and cons to testifying. I believe she said she didn't want to and as she was walking back to defense table she mouthed to her parents. I think "sorry"

We just heard the defense attorney asking Armstrong in front of the judge, ‘would you like to testify? Would you like to not testify?’ Armstrong’s answer was too quiet to hear, but she’s seated back at the table.

Is she seated back at the table or was she escorted out of the courtroom? Confused

Well looky there, she does know that her actions effect others.

Did the defense have a point in recalling CS?
The helmets and transfer DNA. What no one asked was when was the last time KA was on the back of his motorcycle. Did KA make a habit of wearing your helmet? If so, when was the last time she wore your helmet? Do you exclusively wear a particular helmet? Did you wear KA's helmet on 5-11-23? IMO, the helmet issue is wildly speculative for transfer DNA.

Yeah, no.

No one's described anything close to an expression of remorse from her.

She probably told her parents she was innocent, that she'd testify and set the record straight.

Her 'sorry' probably had more to do with "yeah, not gonna testify after all, sorreeee" than any genuine regret.

If her helmet were humility, it wouldn't fit on her head.

Esp as he didn't toss Mo's bike in the bamboo patch, and he has been cleared. If Mo wore KA's helmet and somehow got that DNA on her hands, she certainly didn't toss her own bike in the bamboo, so they're not making any sense about this at all. Unless somehow they are going to try to imply that Mo got KAs DNA on her hands from the helmet, touched her bike (in Cash's house) when she returned home, then the vandal tossed the bike with gloves on. Ridiculous.

There were several interesting moments in that exchange I want to note: Kaitlin Armstrong seemed confused, even scared, in that moment. It was as if she couldn't speak. Rick Cofer was asking her direct questions and making sure she understood her rights as a defendant. She was staring right back at him. He had to say, "this isn't a trick question." When he asked if she wanted to testify, I believe she answered, "not." Not no, but "not." That led to more confusion and Cofer had to make sure she meant no. Overall, while Armstrong has been seemingly quiet and stoic, I watched that exchange unfold and begin to wonder if she is scared stiff at what is happening around her.

The defense has rested its case, but the state has called a new witness: Dr. Tim Kalafut, a forensic scientist from Sam Houston State University. He has authored several articles on DNA analysis.

@JimVertuno

Kaitlin Armstrong defense paid $5k for an expert witness via zoom, and somebody forgot to spend $$ on reliable internet

Not only that but he’s using his computer to look up articles while “he’s on the stand” testifying? The prosecution’s firearm expert certainly didn’t have that added benefit. Seems a bit unprofessional.

I don’t think she’s remorseful, just that she is at least cares somewhat about someone else, even if it is to say sorrrreee.
I agree with you, she lied to them and they believed her. there was probably bunches of examples of that in her life.
