Missing Person – Please Share!

OPD is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 32-year-old Rebecca “Becky” Demory. She is approximately 5’5” tall, weighs approximately 180 pounds, has dark brown hair and hazel eyes.

Rebecca could possibly be driving a silver 1999 Dodge Durango.

She was last seen at Odessa Regional Medical Center Hospital on 2-28-23.

Anyone with information in reference to her whereabouts is encouraged to contact OPD at 432-333-3641 or Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS and reference Case #23-0002772.

Older FB (2019/2018) intro quote "just depressed and hoping to be happy again". Also chooses National Suicide Prevention Lifeline for 2018 birthday. Of course past history mentions do not equal today's mindset, but I really hope she's OK and safe tonight.

Strange they don't specify if she was seen leaving the hospital. There are cameras all over that should be able to verify if she left and what direction.

Demory’s sister, Nancy Swafford, said Becky texted her mom that she was being discharged from the hospital. That was the last time the family heard from her.

“My sister has an intellectual disability. So she always contacts us to let us know how she’s doing, where she’s at, where she’s going,” Swafford said. “And when we didn’t hear from her we got scared and we got worried. She’s best friends with our mom and when I heard she hadn’t contacted her that’s when we knew something was wrong.”

Details of Disappearance

Demory was last seen in southeast Odessa, Texas at 3:50 a.m. on March 1, 2023. She had traveled to Odessa from her home in Seminole, Texas, to visit a sick relative, and on the day of her disappearance she had a medical problem and had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
When she was released, she said she was going to walk to her car, a Dodge Durango which she had left behind at her hotel because of mechanical issues. She apparently never arrived at the car and has never been heard from again.
Surveillance footage showed a man helping Demory get into his white Chevrolet work truck. Authorities were able to identify the man, and his employer confirmed he was the sole driver of the truck that day. The man told police that he had been talking to Demory on a dating app, and picked her up after she told him she didn't have a ride or a place to stay. He said he dropped her off at an unspecified location near Moss Avenue in west Odessa.
The man has since stopped cooperating with the investigation. Police have not publicly named him, but did state he was a person of interest in Demory's case. They searched his work truck and his home and found possible bodily fluids in the back seat of the truck, and traces of possible blood in the cab.
Demory's family stated they don't think she would have ever abandoned them. Since her disappearance her phone and credit cards have not been used. Her case remains unsolved.

Its been over a year and presumably they located this man fairly early on it they used surveillance video to identify him. Why is it still classed as possible fluids and blood, why don't they know this a year later? How sad that an arrest hasn't been made.

After reading the available MSM links provided by members in earlier posts (above), these seem to be the general facts reported in Rebecca's MP case:

When last seen Rebecca Demory was 32 years old, 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, dark brown hair and hazel eyes.

She lives in Seminole TX but was visiting a sick relative and staying at hotel in the Odessa TX area.

She was driving a silver 1999 Dodge Durango at that time.

On or about 28 February, 2023, Rebecca had an unspecified medical problem and had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance. She was admitted to Odessa Regional Medical Center and released shortly after.

LE found surveillance camera footage of her after her release on 1 March, 2023 at a local Odessa TX business. At the time she was last seen Rebecca was wearing a grey long sleeve shirt with a plaid printed hem on the bottom, black pants and athletic shoes. She was carrying a black and teal duffel bag with her.

“She is not only a sister and a daughter, but a mother. It has been three months, her phone and credit card have not been used since she was picked up trying to get a ride to her vehicle,” the family said. “We want answers, we want to know the name of the person who picked her up…we are hurting and furious that we keep getting told it’s a waiting game.”

Additional information:

On March 6, OPD investigators searched Demory’s cellphone records and discovered she had been texting with someone around 1:50 a.m. on March 1. The person Demory texted later told police that she told them she was at a business off of the Interstate 20 Service Road. Then, on March 16, investigators collected video surveillance from the business, which showed the missing woman arrive on the property around 7:33 p.m. on February 28. Several hours later, around 3:45 a.m., an unknown man walked into the camera view and helped Demory into his white Chevrolet work truck.

Using images from the video, investigators said they identified a person of interest based on a business logo visible on his shirt when he approached Demory. The man’s employer confirmed that he was the sole driver of the truck used to drive Demory away from her last known location in the early morning hours of March 1.

That man, whose name we will not publish unless or until he is charged with a crime, told investigators that he’d been chatting with Demory on a dating app called Scout when she told him she didn’t have a ride or a place to stay. He also allegedly confirmed that he was the man captured in security video driving Demory away that morning.

That person of interest told investigators that he and Demory were intimate inside his truck; he then stated that he dropped the woman off at an unknown location in West Odessa near Moss Avenue after their rendezvous. However, when investigators questioned the man further about the specifics of that location, they said he stopped cooperating and refused to answer any more questions.

That same day, Judge Justin Low signed multiple search warrants aimed at gathering evidence in Demory’s disappearance and DNA was collected from the person of interest. Investigators also searched his work truck and his home, located in the 1300 block of Cajun Street.

Court documents show that evidence collected with those warrants included photographs, DNA swabs and clothing belonging to the person of interest, fingerprints, seat covers, and a knife with a wooden handle in a leather sheath. Further, investigators said they found possible bodily fluids in the back seat of the work truck, as well as traces of possible blood in several places inside the cab. Demory’s family said they received a call several days after the evidence was collected confirming that the missing woman’s blood was found inside the vehicle; however, that detail has not been confirmed with investigators.
