A total of 12 bodies found in the Bristol area remain unidentified, the UK Missing Persons Bureau says. One was found with a picture showing what he had looked like, while composites of others' features have been produced by police. The oldest case on file is that of a man's decomposed remains washed ashore at Brean in 1971. The most recent case is from 2002, when a man's body was recovered under a cliff edge at Redcliffe Bay. Here are the people which were found in and around Bristol, but are still shrouded in mystery.

A woman in her sixties was found on Burnham-on-Sea Beach, near Low Lighthouse, in 1993.
It is thought that she was in the water shortly before being found on January 13th.
Her hair was very long and gray and she was 157 cm tall with a slim build.
On her hand, she wore a gold ring and in her pockets was a packet of paracetamol bought at Superdrug and a curry soda with the word "Kansaras".

Male victim of violence
In March 2002, the decomposed remains of a man were found wrapped in black trash bags and bedding, about two years after his death.
They were found in the moors of Halse Lane, near the village of Winsford.
Beside him, a number of items, including underwear and a distinctive gold pendant with a verse from the Qur'an.
Forensic science and the results of radiocarbon dating suggest that he died from the end of 1999 to June 2000.
The police think that his body may have been there for only a few months, when he had been dead longer and possibly kept elsewhere.
The cause of death is not clear, but there is evidence that he was subjected to violence around the time of his death.
It is thought that he is between 25 and 35 years old and that he is of unknown ethnicity. It measured between 172 and 174 cm with black hair and an unspecified mark on the face.
When he was found, he wore blue and white striped Adidas shorts and a small gold pendant with an Arabic inscription saying "belief of faith" in chapter two, verse 255 of the Qur'an."
