Circumstances of Disappearance
Spence was last seen on the 27 November 1974 waiting for a school bus on the Falls Road close to Rockdale Street in Belfast. He disappeared together with John Rodgers.
The two boys failed to catch the bus to Saint Aloysius School in Belfast. The last sighting of Rodgers was at 09.00 when he left his home on Rodney Drive to catch the bus to school.
Spence, from nearby Rockdale Street, was last seen by a neighbor at the bus stop on the Falls Road at 09.15. She was concerned that he should have been at school by that time and called at the family home to tell his mother, who then walked to the bus stop but found her son had gone.
Neither boy arrived at school and both were reported missing the following day.

Rodgers was last seen on the 27th November 1974 waiting for a school bus on the Falls Road, Close to Rockdale Street. He disappeared together with Thomas Spence.
