"Police have arrested a teenage girl on suspicion of attempted murder
after she allegedly stabbed the two teachers and a young pupil with a butterfly knife.

The 1800-pupil school in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire,
was put in lockdown and
a 'Code Red' was announced over the speaker system -

with children told to shut themselves inside classrooms and keep their heads down until police arrived."

Ammanford: Girl arrested after three injured in school stabbing

Awful story - luckily it seems that the three victims have non life threatening injuries - 2 staff members (one being the deputy head) and 1 pupil.

Girl currently being questioned on attempted murder is a year 9 Pupil (this makes her 13/14 years old for those not familiar with the UK system)

Schoolteacher stabbed in the neck 'lucky to be alive' - sounds like a hero teacher Darrell Campbell stopped this incident claiming the lives of the teachers & pupil by wrestling her to the ground

I know it's early in the investigation, but I would be shocked if this ended up being an attempted murder case once it gets to trial. Looking like (fingers crossed) superficial wounds to the victims with not the deadliest of knives available, certainly not like one of those ghastly rambo knives/machetes that kids in this country carry around with them these days.

Still a very serious incident though.

An awful incident.

It's notable that the teacher who received the worst injuries was a special needs teacher.

Our schools, especially post COVID, have been drowning under the weight of unmet mental health needs. CAMHS had waiting lists so long you may as well sign your child up at birth if you want help before they're 18.

I wonder where she got the butterfly knife from; simple possession of butterfly knives is illegal.

This is too close to home for me, though I won’t say why. There aren’t particularly lots of teenagers carrying machetes in this area, though. In London, it’s much more common, but not hugely in a small Welsh community. It’s not a well-off area, but it’s known for being community-focused and family-friendly with pretty low crime rates. Yes, everywhere in the UK has crime and access to knives, but it’s not the town you’d expect to come into particular contact with that - even within that county.

Compare your area Data - Possession of Weapons

It’s difficult to know much at this point without knowing how it came about, but what a huge shock and very sad event for the community there.

<modsnip - quoted post was removed during merge cleanup>

UPDATE | Police remain at Ysgol Dyffryn Amman today, following an incident yesterday in which three people were injured.
Officers will be at the school throughout the day as the CID-led investigation progresses.
A teenage girl remains in custody after being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Two teachers and a teenage pupil were taken to hospital with stab wounds, which were not life-threatening. All three victims have now been discharged from hospital, having been treated for knife injuries.
Carmarthenshire Superintendent Ross Evans said: “As can be expected with an incident as serious as this, there will continue to be a police presence at the school throughout the day today.
“Officers at the scene will be looking for evidence to assist the investigation, while other specialist teams will analyse any information submitted through our dedicated web page.
“We understand the level of concern in the community as people try to process the incident. We urge anyone affected by yesterday’s events to seek support, and not to share any videos, photos or information that might cause further distress to pupils or parents at the school.
“We continue to work with Carmarthenshire County Council and other agencies as they provide support to those affected by yesterday’s events.”
Anyone with information that could help officers with their investigation is asked to report it to Dyfed-Powys Police through the dedicated Public Portal:

No doubt the Heddlu have carried out a search on her home/devices. Maybe they've found a Scarlett Jenkinson style trove of absolute horrors indicating serious intent?

Speculation, obviously.

I think that's extremely unlikely. Stuff I've seen from locals suggested it was more like a pupil being bullied (or in some form of dispute) who has completely snapped, lashing out at the person she perceived to be bullying her and then anyone who intervened.
This also aligns with the article someone linked above which describes a 'protective' brother threatening others.

All speculation of course.

In one of the articles above a fellow pupil said she was suspended from school. So if that's the case she shouldn't have been there and it seems like she went there deliberately to attack them. IMO.
Unless he meant she was suspended in the past?

Genuine question (probably me being tired and stupid), but why would that lead to a charge of attempted murder on three counts? Assumedly one would assume if lashing out after perceived bullying, she would not be aiming to kill and a lesser charge would be assigned?

Edit: I missed the stabbing in the neck part - sorry!
