Police are asking for the public's help to locate a missing Utah father and his young son.

Benjamin Miller, 39, of Taylorsville and his 5-year-old son, Jacob, were last see Monday at 10 a.m., according to a news release from the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office. They were headed “west” to gather firewood, and have not been heard from since.

Police said that Benjamin Miller's cellphone was pinged in the Bluffdale area on Monday morning, and he appeared to be traveling south. The phone has since been turned off.

I'm assuming that Dad is a custodial parent since no Amber Alert was issued.

Details are pretty scarce re: circumstances surrounding their disappearance.

Is there a wife/mom in the picture?

Does BM have any known mental health, custodial and/or legal issues that might have prompted him to take off voluntarily with his son?

What were road/weather conditions like in the area when they left?
