she definitely fell overboard. it' a no-brainer... tons of booze + pot maybe? or who knows what else.. she was partying pretty hard that night), plus a cruise ship... you go out to the edge, alone, and.. what's bound to happen? she either leaned over (to puke, look at the side of the boat, or some other crazy idea).. or tried to sit on the railing or walk on it like it was a balance beam and lost her balance, or had some drunken notion of jumping overboard for a swim. or there's always the possibility that she resisted someone's advances, or she witnessed some kind of drug exchange or something illegal... and someone decided they needed to do away with her.. so they went to meet her out there, covered her mouth, and FLIP-- she's gone.
and don't forget there's always the possibility of suicide. there's a million reasons why a young women like amy might want to end it all, even though they appear happy on the outside and everything appears normal to their parents. people do it all the time.. much to the shock and surprise of their families. and booze (& drugs, if there were any) would definitely help you build up your nerve if you had any thoughts of it.

the possibilities of being sold into a brothel.. or runnning away & leading a double life in some exotic country are just too far-out to be very likely, IMO.

I hate to admit it but you are probably right. I just want there to be a happy ending for some of these cases so I'm sometimes willing to entertain ideas that are far fetched.

Unfortunately there are lots of sharks out there too :-(

I've never been on a cruise ship myself, but I was reading about them recently and apparently it's pretty difficult to accidentally fall overboard because the rails are so high. But as to whether this was the case 10 years ago when Amy disappeared, I don't know. It may be a recent safety innovation.

I remember seeing some kind of show featuring this case, AMW, maybe, or something like it, and they showed the railing on the cruise ship. They showed how it would be impossible to just fall off, even if you had to throw up.

If she cllimbed up onto it for some reason, I can see that happening, but from what I remember it would have been impossible to accidentally fall overboard.

That brothel picture looked so much like her. That, plus the other sightings -- I really believe it was her. I imagine she's dead now, if the last sighting was a decade ago.

The pictures haunted me, I feel like it WAS her. I imagine too that she is dead by now. Either from someone figuring out who she was and she was disposed of, or from a drug over dose. She looked pretty "High" to me in the pictures.

My personal take on this case is that Amy was murdered sometime at night on the cruise ship, probably by one of the workers on the ship. I have been on over 10 cruises in my life (including Royal Caribbean 3 times), and the rails are pretty high for someone to fall off accidentally...even if extremely drunk. It's just not something one really wants to do anytime, especially at night or early morning as is the case here. Suicide cannot be ruled out, but from what her family has said about her it seems unlikely, as she was supposed to start a new job.

The selling her into prostitution in the Caribbean theory I highly doubt. The ship worker who was with Amy the night before gave some vague answers. I would focus on him.

I understand that with all the stories the past few years about cruise ship mishaps that happen all the time makes some think that oh, well, she must have been drunk and fell over the rail and drowned. But when you think about it and how many people go on cruises yearly throughout the world and the number of people falling overboard accidentally is beyond rare. Probably have a better chance of getting struck by lightning, really.

According to Wikipedia:

"Police investigated and discarded many theories regarding Amy's disappearance. It is unlikely that she fell overboard and drowned, given that she was a trained lifeguard and the ship was close to shore at the time of her disappearance."

I am not sure how what you are stating is a "no-brainer". Maybe your opinion, but it is definitely not a "no-brainer".

You are correct about this. I took a cruise in '99, and remember thinking how hard it would be to accidentally fall overboard (I'm afraid of heights, so I took special note of this!).

Photos seen afterwards show Amy as an escort for a Caribbean website.

I can not for the life of me understand how our government can jump in an instant and help people in need like in "Haiti" yet let this kind of treatment of young women go on. There has to be so many of our own children over in these places and they do nothing. Why can't we go get them, they know this is going on yet they do nothing? Why?

PS: I am in no way saying we shouldn't be helping in "Haiti"
