OK, I'm crying I'm laughing so hard. Yep, Petra, you'd better watch out for us Massachusetts people. We're all crazed drug addicts that are out to rob you blind and get single mothers hooked on drugs and put in jail. PLEASE!!!
I stated facts about the ones that came from out of state and are incarcerated.

I'm not sure how you can say the statement "there are a lot of things going on with Ma." is based in fact. Of course there are people from MA and NY that have moved to VT and been arrested for various crimes. However, the post implies that the root of all evil in VT is transplants from MA and NY, which is going too far.

Alot going on in Ma. was a response to Petra's post"Noticed Framingham Ma has come up alot lately in the news...the woman and child who were kidnapped in Walmart parking lot and held and raped in hotel for several days, the missing man Jerry Tang, father of 2 now living in the bay area."
I had read this article today.I have friends in Ma. that is why I read their paper.Maybe I should have put and extra space after I posted the sentence.

Of course things are usually changed after something bad happens.

With much respect,
I thank-you again Petra

I too hope that someone talks to the little girl and finds out if anything has ever gone on with the mom's boyfriend. One reason that he went and got in bed with the little girl was because he didn't want her to get out of bed and go into her mother's bedroom. That poor little girl. As she gets older it will dawn on her that she heard her mother being murdered. I hope she has counseling so that she won't feel guilty that she didn't call 911. It's so easy to blame yourself for things that you had no control over.

Poor Tina. All she wanted was to get rid of that creep. I just don't understand why so many guys refuse to let go and walk away. Instead they murder the wife or girlfriend and then end up in prison for the rest of their lives. That doesn't even count the ripple effect.

Article about the regisrty;(Sex offender registry a Vermont shame)

some of what is on the link;

It's none of Vermont state government's business why a citizen wants information.

If our sex-offender registry were more open and accessible, there's no assurance that Tina Fontaine would have used it to give Francis Niles the heave-ho.

She never had that chance.

Finding out the truth about Niles' past would admittedly have been like looking for a needle in a haystack.

The least we could have done for Tina Fontaine would have been to lend her a pitchfork

So then he spends the night in the little girl's bed! OMG, I hope they have taken her to the Doctor!
I wonder if he is on the sex offender registry?
And could you post a link to the article?

It makes me  that these people who rape another human and scar the victim for life can get off so easy..........WHY.............................

Niles' adult record began in November 1990, when he was accused of violating the state's compulsory insurance law. Then, in April 1991, he was accused of raping a family member late the previous year. Niles was taken to prison.

Police and prosecutors said Niles used a hunting knife to force the girl, who was younger than 14, to have intercourse with him, according to court records on file at Middlesex Superior Court in Cambridge. Prosecutors brought six charges: three of rape of a child, one of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and two of indecent assault and battery on a child.

That August, Niles pleaded guilty to the three rape charges; the other allegations were dismissed, according to court records.

The judge sentenced Niles to serve five to eight years but suspended all but 146 days -- the time he'd spent in prison since April, according to court records. Niles was released on probation and instructed to seek treatment.

Because people under the age of 18 don't vote and they have no voice.

OMG! That is sad!! I sure hope he will not be the next Duncan.

That works out to about 48 1/2 for each rape charge. What kind of a sentence do they give for murder? A year? (sarcastic)
Same deal here as with Cashman. This judge needs to go!
Did anyone else happen to notice that they are complaining that Mass. gave him too light a sentence- and the state they live in is Vermont Cashman's state! :banghead:

I just think that these judges giving out these sentences should be removed from the bench and replaced with Judges that harshly punish sex offenders and murderers.

It may have fallen under first offense rules. But what it means is that if he is found to be violating his parole, he will be sent back to do the whole sentence. That means if he fails a pee test for alcohol, drugs, is found with child *advertiser censored*, gets a traffic violation, etc. he's back in for good.

That all sounds really good for a first offense. Until you think about a little girl who had to go through a trial, then ends up going home knowing that in 146 days, this man will be out again, free to get her again. You think in 146 days, she will have time to cope with what was done to her, learn to deal with her fears, and prepare herself for the fact that she might by some chance run into this man again? In 146 days, which he has already served? Her parents can pay for her to have counseling, she will be paying with the nightmares and emotional scars.
And what it also means is that the court in actuality just told him, ok you have been a bad boy (like he didn't know that already), and if you another girl, then the judge is going to be mad at you. See how nice the judge is, you don't want the nice man to be mad at you do you? So be a good little boy, and don't play with the little girls. Do they really think the guy is going to listen? He was facing years of incareration, and the judge just told him what a lucky man he was, he was getting off easy. So maybe he can be lucky again? Or at least don't get caught the next time.
And it gave the other parents reasons to have nightmares at night in fear for their children. They really don't want their child to have to be raped, so that this predator can be gotten off the street. Parents who are now going to have to (hopefully) go home and tell those precious kids that there is another predator out on the street, and to never never talk to a stranger, as a stranger might hurt them. And the judge might let them go.
