"Wisconsin surgeon, 26, is found dead on hiking trail near waterfall with 90-foot drop a week after her family last heard from her.

  • Four days later on March 30, police in her hometown asked the county to search for her
  • Authorities found Musgrove's car in the parking lot at Potato River Falls and found her body near the 90-foot waterfall April 3, they said in a press release
  • The sheriff's office said it did not suspect foul play - but has not yet listed a reason for her death
  • She was a cardiothoracic surgery fellow at the University of Wisconsin and was remembered fondly by friends and colleagues."

Wisconsin doc, 26, died on hiking trail when the ground collapsed beneath her, cops reveal | Daily Mail Online

“Cops late Wednesday night said Musgrove, who told family that she reached the falls March 26, died after veering away from an observation area overlooking the waterfall to get a closer look at the river.

'While walking along the edge of the embankment, it appears that the ground beneath her collapsed, bringing her down the bank along with clay and rocks,' Iron County Sheriff Paul Samardich said at a press conference.

He said Musgrove's body was found by deputies partially buried in the clay embankment. The autopsy revealed that Musgrove suffered traumatic injuries and died within minutes of the fall, Samardich said.

It was not immediately clear how far she fell.”
