Information sought on missing Appleton man; car found in Oconto County

Doesn't sound good. It's been three weeks already since he went missing.

Appleton WI to Doty WI Google Maps

Quite far, 75-80 miles. I wonder where he was going?

Not much background info about Nicholas. Who reported him missing and when. Any cell phone info. Does he live alone or with others. Any friends or family in Doty.
Was car operational when found.
Any bodies of water near where his car was found.
Any SAR personal and dogs used in the area where car was found.
Would Samantha's scent be easier to track than Nicholas.
Nicholas has been missing since April 1st but wasn't reported until recently.
Hoping for good result for Nicholas and Samantha.

In one of the links that @GuyfromCanada provided in Post #1, from the Oconto County Sheriff's Office FB page (Oconto County Sheriff's Office), Nicholas's missing information was posted and has 57+ comments, which includes his mother's comment (DDH). I could not find any further information about Nicholas's disappearance from any family members.

Three searches conducted in northern Oconto County for missing Appleton man Nicholas Hietpas

His black 2012 Ford Fusion was found on a forest road in the town of Doty on April 18 by an ATV rider, Skarban said.

The vehicle was less than a quarter mile off State 64 on the road, which turns back onto Shadow Lake Road. A tarp and other gear were outside the car.

“It looked like it had been there for some time,” Skarban said. “There was some snow on it, apparently from the snow that fell April 11.”

RBBM: If this is a self harm situation I don't believe Nicholas would have removed tarp and gear from car. IMO it appears Nicholas was preparing to camp but maybe the tarp was to hide the car from searchers. Come home Nicholas.
