A couple riding an all-terrain vehicle on Aug. 31 in the area of Reamer Road, which is about three miles south of Clendenin, were looking for a lost dog... They were looking at a creek from a bridge when they saw what they initially believed to be animal remains, but when they went to the creek to look closer they saw the remains were human...
Humphreys said it was determined that the remains were that of a white man believed to be around 50 years old.
The man suffered a traumatic brain injury, which may have been the result of a car crash or an ATV crash, in recent years. The injury led to a subdural hemorrhage and brain surgery. The man also had broken ribs and was missing several teeth that may have been knocked out or removed at the time of the brain injury, Humphreys said.
