I've devoured just about everything I could get my hands on to read and/or watch about LISK (Long Island Serial Killer). Is anyone else waiting with baited breath for this case against Rex Heuerman? Do you think he's the killer? How many of you out there think that there's more than one killer? What about James Burke? Dr. Peter Hackett? What about the wealthy folks living in Oak Beach, who it has been suggested have secret sex parties and participate in snuff films? Even though Mr. Heuerman lives in Suffolk County, he doesn't live in Oak Beach, and I have a feeling we should be looking for a group of people who have some pretty sick tastes. I am pretty confident that Rex is connected to the Gilgo four, because of the DNA, but I think there is something else going on in that area that people are missing. Who's with me?

“One thing leads to another – you see a show about something, you start searching, and they talk about how somebody got killed,” he said. “You start searching, and then they talk about another way, and you start searching. Think about if they looked at your own personal search history, how all of a sudden you’re guilty because of your search history?”

Brown also downplayed new DNA testing that prosecutors presented as major new evidence in their case against Heuermann and revealed detectives had been surveilling his client for a year and a half before the arrest on July 13, 2023.

Brown scoffed at the inclusion of purported information from Heuermann’s search histories. “Think about how, if they look at your own personal search history, how all of a sudden, you’re guilty because of your search history?” Brown said.

Welcome, Skaticat_22. I'm glad you've joined the forum. I can assure you that you are among a large population of curious and caring individuals who've literally lost sleep and spent restless nights trying to make sense of the heart-wrenching tragedies commonly referred to on this forum simply as LISK.
For what it's worth, I concur with your suspicion that at least two killers, each with a personal agenda and acting independently from the other, carried out these horrendous murders. I've long held that belief.
Call it a hunch or intuition, and time might surely prove me wrong. And as you pointed out, there is no shortage of unseemly characters and bizarre behavior among the area, i.e., Oak Beach, residents. So the possibilities are many. Personally, however, despite all we've learned of the various local characters, my feeling thus far is that the earlier killings were committed by an individual who was transient in nature or resided in a distant community. Considering the efforts to sever the victims' bodies and dispose of the remains in separate locations, in my very humble opinion, depicts one, possibly two very twisted, but clever individual(s), and not a killer who would dump bodies in his own backyard.

Nevertheless, due to that factor and the mostly hapless reporting, across the board, gaining a clear perspective of the facts can be difficult. The media has a tendency to lump the circumstances together and draw a skewed timeline as though all of the murders occurred within a correlated proximity. But a careful analysis negates clarifies that muddled notion.

An escort, Shannon visited a client's home in the Oak Beach community on the evening of May 1, 2010. The circumstances are unclear, but at some point, she called 911, and during a 22 minute conversation exclaimed that she was in fear for her life. Eventually, she fled the premises and was not seen again. Her family reported her missing, which sparked a search of the area along Ocean Beach.
November 2011: Shannon's remains were found in a marsh. Her death was ruled as an accidental drowning. Convinced she was a victim of foul play, her family actively protested.Well-known pathologist Michael Baden performed an autopsy and determined a crushed hyoid bone could have been the result of strangulation. Yet, her cause of death ruling stands.

All of the victims were escorts. All bodies were intact, wrapped in burlap, and placed within close proximity of each other.

(Ironic but sick. One Gmail account Heuerman used to conduct his perverse Google searches was "sandbagger 303".)

The other bodies/remains located in 2010-2011 as a result of the initial search for Shannon Gilbert in 2010.

Sept. 2000: Partial remains found in Manorville
April 4, 2011: Additional remains found along Ocean Pkwy.

C.Karen Vergata
Jane Doe #7
Last seen: Feb 1996
April 1996: Legs found in plastic garbage bag in Davis Park on Fire Island.
August 2011: Skull found near JD #3 "Peaches", off Ocean Pkwy, Nassau County
August 2023: Remains ID'd.

D. "Peaches"
Jane Doe #3
June 1997: Torso found stuffed in a plastic bag, Hempstead Lake State Park
April 11, 2011: Additional remains found Jones Beach State Park off Ocean Pkwy.
It is believed Peaches was from Mobile, AL, and an investigation is ongoing to locate relatives or others who can confirm her identity.

E. April 2011: Remains of a toddler, approx 2 y.o. located in Jones Beach State Park, off Ocean Pkwy, Nassau County. near other remains.
2016: Toddler ID'd as Peaches' child. Body had been placed at the opposite end of the "dumping ground" from where mother's Torso was placed.

F. Un-ID'd Asian man
John Doe
April 2011: A young Asian man's remains were found in Oak Beach just one-half mile from the Gilgo Four location. Among the remains discovered, only his body was in the immediate area of the Gilg Four. He was dressed in women's clothing and his skull was bashed in.
Forensic authorities estimate he died 5-10 years earlier, 2001-2006.
Some speculate the circumstances indicate Heuerman was his killer. Filmmaker Josh Zeman, (Killing Season A&E, 2017), expressed to reporters that with that knowledge he has changed his long held theory of two killers to one. He now thinks Heuerman picked up the young man, became angry when he discovered he'd been fooled and crushed in the victim's skull in a fit of rage. If true. Zeman reasons that Heuerman was on the prowl at least several years prior to 2010, and likely killed all of the located victims.

Personally, I would need more evidence before coming to that conclusion. That said, I worked with Josh on the Killing Season and have great respect for his insight and knowledge of LISK. I just happen to hold a different view.

With the facts laid out as above, it is apparent, in my opinion, that a rash of escort murders occurred during the late 1990's into 2000-2001. The killer had a distinct M.O. sharply different from that shown in the second rash of murders at the end of the decade, the "Gilgo Murders".
And while it seems uncanny that remains from the early murders were discovered during the 2010-11 search, it's important to remember that there is a ten year difference. The distinction is vital, and from there one can delve into finding the truth.
And my curiosity certainly is piqued. If corpses/remains of ten victims were found, how many more might remain undiscovered? And what sparked the initial killings? And perhaps Skaticat_22 is right, and Suffolk County is a breeding ground for evil nut jobs (no offense intended) but... And... And...

And if you've read this far you are as obsessed as I. Heaven help you.
✌️♥️

It just hurts me deeply that so many women, who for whatever reason get involved with sex work end up abused, murdered and just discarded. I have had some really tough times in my life and been a victim of trauma myself and I feel like I, myself could have very easily ended up the same way. It's this that has really driven my interest in this, and ALL cases like it. I see you mentioned Josh from the Killing Season, so I'm sure you have watched that and are also very interested in what he and Rachel discovered together. Thank you for the additional info, please keep me posted if you come across anything new.

This is incredibly interesting to me in light of "sandbagger303." There is an escape room in Denver in the Homicide Hotel called Room 303. The Homicide Hotel is a themed horror experience built around serial killer Robert Quinlan. Found this online: "Our escape room in Denver / Thornton will fully immerse you into the world of the serial killer Robert Quinlan. He built his hotel with the specific intent to torture and kill his unsuspecting guests. Secret passages, confusing corridors, and soundproof torture chambers are just the beginning."

Also: "The Homicide Hotel Escape Room provides an immersive horror themed escape room experience! 303 Escape Room is in Thornton, Colorado and Denver Metro Area." (And just noting, 303 is the area code for a large portion of CO).

I have a bad feeling with RH that we might really end up seeing shades of BTK with his funny "cereal killer" moment. I have no idea if this will be any part of it, but I just found it interesting.

Someone needs to tell the arrogant, offensive, obnoxious lawyer Macedonio NO way in hell.
What Asa is going through with the arrest of Rex in no way equates to the death of your child, no less your child who was brutally murdered and dis-guarded.

Selective memory eh Asa?
What about your husband's burner phone records?
What about your husband's demented, perverted, sadistic, evil computer searches?

"Macedonio says Heuermann’s arrest was “like a death of a relative or a child or every day you learn to adapt a little bit more and more to the new reality."

Rex Heuermann Allegedly Linked to 2 More Gilgo Beach Victims by Witness Testimony: Lawyer

“No one wants to believe the person they were married to for 27 years and slept in the same bed with and had a child with was capable of these kind of crimes,” he says. “Nobody wants to believe that.”

WHOA, this looks big. And one source is saying AE's in South Carolina with the son. I'm seeing conflicting evidence on whether the daughter was home. Source: "According to sources, investigators executed a search warrant. It’s not clear if the warrant is connected to the four women Heuermann is charged with murdering, or if it has to do with other victims. Sources tell News 12 Heuermann’s estranged wife is on vacation in South Carolina with the couple’s son.
His daughter was at the house

Interesting- - as far as electronics, wouldn’t they have already removed everything in the previous searches? It seems LE had pretty much torn the house apart previously— what could possibly have been left of any evidentiary value?

Or is there new evidence since his arrest— maybe on family member’s electronics? Just speculating.

Guessing they had some time to wade through the electronic devices. There were 422 electronic devices.

There are other possibilities. Maybe some unsuspecting person walking in the Manorville area (they searched there relatively recently) stumbled across more remains. Would think that would be publicized by now, but... maybe not. Maybe more secret indictment hearings going on for RH. Maybe some "seriously big" tip. But yeah, I tend to think the electronic devices. This guy's going to be a horror show, seriously. These poor little creatures, targeted by this sick freak. And he's unfortunately pretty intelligent, and he travels pretty extensively, from what I saw. I'd be surprised if other states aren't going to become involved. And they're really going after RH (good), so we might not have to bargain butter to find out. Maybe not that clever after all. We can only hope. I've got so many questions at this point, I probably couldn't even list them.

I’m thinking some evidence testing took a longer time for results to be completed do to the sheer volume initially removed from the house. Something like paint, tape, rope, etc must have potential to point to further charges from other victims and they have returned to test more items to make sure of matches.

'Police in the early afternoon were seen removing a large rectangular object covered in blue cloth and loading it onto the back of a truck which was parked in the driveway as it was loaded with evidence pulled from the home.

Other officers emerging from the mobile command units that Suffolk County police set up on the closed-off street also carried cardboard boxes of evidence back into the home, but it wasn't clear their contents.'

'Police removed a long rope and paint chips from the porch of suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann’s Massapequa Park home.

Crews wearing gloves and face masks were seen standing on folding chairs collecting paint chips from underneath the porch rafters on Thursday afternoon - on day four of the search that started on Monday when officials raided Heuermann’s home for a second time.

Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney arrived at the home Thursday afternoon around 3.40pm. He went inside the property, and approximately 20 minutes later emerged and left. He did not speak to any news crews standing nearby.'

cont:

It remains unclear if today marks the last day of the search. Last summer, Tierney appeared at Heuermann’s home when the initial search was done at the home that lasted 12-days.

Since Monday teams of investigators have been removing bags, boxes, furniture and household items from the home. The medical examiner was on site earlier in the week.

OMG!

IMO:
How could anyone keep images of violence condensed in a book around after all they've been exposed to being related to an accused serial killer?
The book was seized then returned and ends up on the kitchen table.

There are times when a lawyer is better off to just shut-up.
This was one of them.

'In a statement to DailyMail.com, Vess Mitev, the lawyer representing Victoria Heuermann, 26 and Christopher Sheridan, 33, said neither he nor his clients had 'knowledge' of such a book.

He then offered a potential defense of them.

'It's not against the law to have books!' he said. '
