If you mean getting away to Canada, that is a truly easy couple hours of low speed motoring away. And there's no border control for boats. And it's not nearly as monitored as you think. I've crossed hundreds of times, mostly without telling a soul.
There is border control: as a courtesy, they allow people wanting to land in smaller communities to phone in for permission to land. <modsnip>

Strange case. I just joined it -- What is this man, AA, doing? Is he abducting his daughter and wanted someone else around to help take care of the 2-year-old? Or was he trying to hide his daughter with a relative and wanted to "set up" NC to take the fall for the abduction? Hopefully he let's them go, because at some point, LE will close in. JMO.

I don't understand why a young woman, who just graduated with honours, whose life was just beginning really, would agree to such a dangerous. no-win situation. They were engaged, so they did plan to start a life together---so why not just do that the normal way?

I am now wondering if Aaron had some reason to believe that he might lose custody of his child for some reason? Did he have a court case or some pending charges he was concerned with?

From the start I was suspicious of the story that he was taking his 2 yr old to Montana on a 3 day fishing trip. I think a 2 yr old is a bit young to really appreciate such an adventure. You could take them down to the local creek to fish and it would be just as enjoyable for a 2 yr old. So I wondered what the real story was...

I'm just guessing because we don't have enough info yet-----but right now I'm wondering if Aaron was worried that he was going to lose custody/visitation with his child in the future? Maybe he has some looming/pending issues or charges upcoming so he wanted to get ahead of it?

Aaron Aung may be traveling with 21-year-old Nadia Cole, a former Pullman resident. Cole was reported missing May 28 to the Port of Seattle Police Department.

Pullman police operations commander Aaron Breshears said the vehicles normally associated with Cole and Aung are accounted for, so police believe they are in a different, unknown vehicle

Pullman and Moscow police departments are working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to locate a missing toddler.

This news anchor now says that she was seen getting off the lightrail at University St station.

“MISSING: 21-year-old Nadia Cole left SeaTac airport on her own and was last seen getting off the light rail at the University Street station at 3rd and University in downtown Seattle on May 29.

Pullman Police believe she may be with Aaron Aung from Moscow and his 2-year-old daughter, Seraya Aung Harmon who have both been reported missing as well.

The Pullman Police Department is working with the Moscow (Idaho) Police Department and the F.B.I., to try to find them. Seraya was last seen with her father on May 29. The two reportedly traveled to Montana on a fishing trip, but have not returned.

Seraya was scheduled to be returned to her mother in Pullman on June 3, 2024. They did not appear at the scheduled custody exchange.

If you have any info to help find them, please call 911, the Pullman Police Department or contact Shepherd Shield at the number on the flyer. The owner of Shepherd Shield is helping Nadia's parents try to locate her.

I'm a 59 year old mom with 4 grown children. I'm trying to put myself in the mom's shoes. They are going off to Italy, probably as a graduation present to Nadia. Mom probably paid for the airline tickets, hotels, etc. ahead of time. Mom is at gate and very excited to spend time with her daughter to Italy, what a dream vacation. They are at the gate and Nadia goes to restroom, but never returns to gate? Mom must have been hysterical by the time boarding was done. If this was planned, how could Nadia have her mom pay for all that, knowing trip wasn't going to happen? And to have her mom involved, hopefully innocently, is very, very cruel. I just can't fathom how both the fiancee' and his daughter are missing at the same time as Nadia and that they are not connected. They must be. Us sleuthers have seen this scenario way too many times and the outlook doesn't look good. Best scenario is two aren't connected: fiance got lost "fishing" and will be safely found with daughter and Nadia will be found at a friend's house. I live in the area and if the sightings are that she has been seen in Fife, then that could be troubling. Fife is very teeny and known for having a huge casino, along with cheap motels, prostitution, and drugs. I wonder if this was planned and they are holed up in a cheap motel there.

So Nadia is not Seraya's bio mother, correct?
No, the biological mother filed a paternity action in a Idaho court last year to establish child support with Aaron. There was a judgement for Establishing Paternity, Custody and Support in September of 2023.

There were a couple trial dates set up after that, all vacated (meaning a court order or judgment has been cancelled or rendered void) so I'm not sure the current status of the case - actual documents not available for viewing for here are the hearing search results: iCourt Portal - Online records & payments for the Idaho courts (click on the box for "search hearings" then enter Latah county, family as hearing type, Aaron's name and I used a date range of March - late Oct. 2023 which matched what was in the other records).

I'm not buying the fishing story at all. A five year old and older maybe, but a toddler. In my opinion (I have small grandkids) NO.

If the possible spotting of Nadia in Fife is accurate, they could have all met at the Link station or somewhere nearby and went to (or through) Fife. It's about a 20 minute drive from the airport to Fife.

Is Aaron's vehicle missing, too? I haven't seen any mention of him having a vehicle or what kind of vehicle people should be on the look out for. If he was supposedly going to Montana to fish/camp, surely he went in some kind of vehicle.

Sounds like Nadia left her checked baggage on purpose. IMO she pretended to be going to go on the family trip to Europe.

SPECULATION: She probably still had her carry-on and left her checked luggage and slipped away with just her carryon after a visit to the restroom. Maybe she got a call in the restroom, hurry up, now or never. Maybe she couldn't figure out how to get away from family members/witnesses WITH her baggage and leaving it behind was plan B. I think she had a plan to meet up with AA, who had a plan to abduct his daughter. They are running off to play happy family. JMO

Nadia is very young. I believe she is swallowing a whole line of baloney that AA has fed her about the need to protect his baby girl from mean ole ex, and she probably thinks this whole situation is very romantic. JMO thoughts on the facts available now.

Very unlikely she booked an Uber or taxi without a phone. Unless she booked it at the gate and left immediately to meet the driver outside, with no way of identifying the right car. IMO, she meant to leave everything there. Sounds like a young woman tricked into thinking she could run away with her new Fiancée and his baby, riding off into the sunset together.

I suspect (and hope) bio mom won’t allow this to happen. I hope all are okay regardless of the situation…

As I've said on other seattle threads, it's also super easy to hop on the light rail without paying. Especially in the hustle and bustle of the SeaTac station. Would be super easy to hop on to Tukwila or Angle Lake and have someone pick you up there.

From your link, the mother is not the petitioner, she's the respondent.
So she didn't file, he did.

It is very strange that her fiance and his child would randomly go out of town on a fishing trip and possibly somewhere remote without cell service while his fiance, NC is currently missing.

This quote from the article is also extremely concerning "Cole left her belongings at an airport gate to use the restroom but never returned. She was then seen leaving the airport with "a distressed expression."

The distressed expression after saying she needed to leave and use the restroom and left all her belongings except a bag she brought with her could be a result of various reasons...did she receive a phone call/text prior that was worrisome? Did she have a plan to leave all along and was uneasy/nervous to see it through? Was someone following her and making her feel uncomfortable?

I think the first two make the most sense at this point, but you would want your cell to stay in communication with whomever just contacted you or who you planned to meet up with, which leads me to believe she possibly had a burner phone or other means of communication if not a set plan of time/place to meet.

The odds that an engaged couple are both missing from different locations within the span of a week and one with a child are just so incredibly low that I find it hard to believe this was a coincidence but somehow a planned event instead. The only other scenario I can wrap my head around is if they were possibly in trouble with someone/s and were both separately targeted. They could have known and been trying to escape and lay low as well but I am still very much leaning towards this being a planned escape and meet up on their own accord and I hope all three of them are safe and return home soon.
