I went through various photos online of servers at The Mad Greek. I was not able to locate an employee photo with a name tag of any kind. IMO, BK could not have located the address of any of the residents of 1122 King Rd without at least knowing a first and last name, but I’m unconvinced he had that opportunity.

Still waiting to hear from BT, what if any, victim was known to BK prior to 11/13/22.
He wouldn't have to know Maddie's name to find out where she lived. He could have waited outside The Mad Greek and followed her home. JMO

Yes !

Anyone could have found their names by scrolling SM sites, then found them attractive, then learned about them through SM ..... A 6 year old could do it.

All of them had their names on SM and it is not reasonable to think a computer data guy like BK would not know their names. People Magazine saw one of their accounts and BK had sent a DM to one of them to say Hi.....2 Cents

Right?! I had this all typed up yesterday and deleted it lol.

Somehow these 4 people and their spheres overlap with BKs' "sphere" somewhere along the way.

MOO (a theory) I think BK saw the girls at a party or a gathering where one of them lost their ID. He spotted them, maybe he found the ID and looked them up online. Then he fixated. He'd have their school info and a name to start, access to student info via his teaching position possibly to obtain more info or glean something from their socials etc. BK might have even gone to the Mad Greek hoping to create an opportunity?

People keep saying BK expected MM to be upstairs alone. Why? Wouldn't BK have to know that KG was gone for him to expect MM alone? Meaning BK would've been keeping tabs? If he were actually watching them, wouldn't he also know that KG was moving out? Wouldn't he know that KG got a new car or at the very least, not recognize the new car parked outside 1122 King?

From the outside, who would know? From my POV if I were BK, the absence of KGs familiar old vehicle would maybe be an indication however there was also the presence of a new vehicle which would be unknown and not recognizable to an outsider. If I were stalking, the addition of a new vehicle would deter me or at least give me pause to reconsider my "plan". But BK went inside anyway.

I think BK was watching much more closely than we know.

I was thinking that was a good possibility--maybe at a time when the girls were all sitting out back or visible in the kitchen during one of his late night drives.

I was also wondering if he ever drove over to Moscow, parked somewhere public, and just went jogging around the university area/neighborhoods. Whether he was doing it for nefarious purposes or not. He might have just been out for a jog and spotted the house/girls and had something go "ping" in his head.
I went to a pretty big university in the Berkshire's. Similar kind of place where the town’s economy relies on the school, students, and the surrounding schools.

A month before school opened (in the summer) all the off campus apartments and the campus itself would be abuzz with activity.

I lived in an off campus house for two years and we always moved back in early to mid August (classes started post Labor Day). We did this because our leases were year round. So you’d essentially be paying for a vacant apartment for 4-5 months out of the year if you left in May and came back in September.

All the houses around us and all the fraternities and the sororities also came back around the same time. Not to mention the thousands of students participating in summer sessions were already there.

IMO driving around to scope the general scene in a new school/state/place would be totally normal behavior. We did it. So Kohlberger just needed to drive around the adjacent neighborhoods and through campus to have someone catch his eye. What he did after that was totally not normal….of course that’s JMO.

so seeing that I am actually very glad our house is 98 years old and does not have any of those sliding doors.
My parents were out of town and my brother misplaced his key to the deadbolts, the sliding door had a broomstick in place. He and his friends just removed the entire sliding glass doors. It took the guys less than 30 minutes to remove it and put it back in place. My parents never knew.

I was a latch key kid. When I forgot my key, I would go to the sliding glass door and get my cat to move the broomstick out of the track. (I know...my cat "Booty" was so cool). Then, I would just lift it up with the handle and it was open. So, even an elementary school kid could open a locked sliding glass door, especially without a broomstick.

I've lost track of the schedule.

Status hearing today?

What happened to the biweekly status hearings? Aren't we about due?
There was a Scheduling Conference on June 27, 2024 at 10 AM Pacific Time and during that hearing the judge said that they are at the point of diminishing returns ( for the biweekly status hearings) because they were 13 months since the arraignment in May 2023, so the judge proposed a scheduling order that the Judge, the state and the defense discussed during that hearing. This hearing was about 13 minutes long.

Before Brian was arrested, all the "profilers" were saying that the killer would keep the knife as a souvenir. Does anybody know if a ka-bar was found in Brian's apartment?
It's not on the list of items we know about, so I'd say not.

I think if it was kept, he hid it somewhere it has not been discovered. But I think it's more likely in the Snake River with the other crime related items.

MOO

IMO if the weapon had been discovered it would've been posted here and discussed repeatedly. We'd have all memorized it by now lol.

I could see tossing the knife into a deep and fast moving river but not clothing. Not that it matters but I do wonder what the plan of action was afterwards. what order BK did everything etc.

Number 1) on the list of items they seized from his parents house is a knife tho. I mean it doesn’t mean it’s THE knife, but it could be.
The only reason why I’m doubtful they have the knife is because his defense team are adamant he’s innocent and keep saying there’s no evidence blah blah. Idk if they’d be doing that if they found the murder weapon.

Agreed on Snake River. At whatever point he realized he had left the sheath behind, there's no, no way he held onto that knife as any souvenir, but jmo.

It would be a gift for the prosecution if he did hang onto it and it materializes.

I read that the sheath was found underneath one of the victims. Is that true?

No.

Whoever said he would keep the knife is ignorant about crime. Killers get rid of their evidence, the ones who plan out their crimes. A spur of the moment murder is when they take the gun home or leave the knife....not having planned it out.

I cannot find the original post/link where it mentions the knife that was recovered by LE. IIRC it was a "Taylor Cutlery" knife that was listed among the items seized from the Kohberger home.

I've been wondering if the different injuries sustained by the victims was partly due to more than one knife having been used at the scene. Something tells me that these types of people would bring more than one knife.

Here is one of the earlier posts listing the items including the Taylor knife: (there is a link to the article within the post)

IMHO I think a lot of it depends on the type of crime and who the perpetrator is, their motive etc.For example, a spree killer might use the same weapon for all their crimes. IIRC the Zodiac used the same gun for multiple crimes.

If BK hadn't left the sheath behind, he could have easily kept the knife without anyone connecting him to the crime. For all we know it could be hiding at the bottom of a well somewhere in rural PA.

Gotta give them an A+ for effort. :)

Same thing happened to me! I lost my key and had to break into the house after school. There was a large window at the back of the house with a small sliding glass panel at the bottom. It was just wide enough that I could squeeze through it but I had to wiggle the glass panel off the track without breaking the window. The dog thought it was great though, very happy to see me once I got through the window lol!

Concerning taking a memento from the crime scene I am sure it wouldn't be the knife.

Look how meticulous BK was in not leaving any digital evidence to connect him to the victims. I do not know what this means exactly, but I do not believe he did not see their social media. No connection because he apparently did not engage with them.

And no blood in his car or apartment means he planned it in my opinion. Unplanned with no plastic down would be impossible to not leave trace blood.

So a killer this focused on these evidence details would not hang onto his knife, would not keep anything in his car or apartment that links to the crime scene.

He had the trophy he longed for I am sure. Front page news and countless photos and news and social media coverage. Guessing games in the media about who did it? Where is the knife? How did the killer get in? House targeted or victims targeted?

He was able to sit back and revel in his knowledge of the case, he knew more than the police, probally felt some comeuppance for being rejected from LE programs.

Kicked out of...

His HS vocational LE program
Not getting an internship with Moscow police (I believe he did not get selected for that)
Kicked out of his PHD program that focused on criminals. The wheels were turning on kicking him out of his teaching PHD program before he committed multiple homicides.
