Noting:

Casey is an artist, a hairstylist, an Air Force veteran, a community worker and a woman of faith, Boyd said.

She was born in south suburban Harvey, Illinois, and most recently lived in Rogers Park in Chicago.

Casey had worked at the Chicago Freedom School as a program manager developing youth programs and had done some work with Howard Brown Health in HIV testing and prevention, her close friend Emily Williams told CNN.
RBBM: (the bold didn't work) I am taking this to mean that Taylor could handle herself in a self defense situation?

I didn't know those other things. It's nice to learn something personal about the people we discuss here. Taylor seems like a well rounded and caring person. I hope there are some answers soon.

Hmmmmm…..history of scandal at Sivananda. Evidently, the ashram on Paradise Island is one of many that follow a guru known for exploitation and sex assault. Evidently, there are many cases involving the guru, swamis, and instructors.

Starting tonight, Sunday, July 21st at 11:30 PM Eastern, we kick off our It's The End Of The World Again broadcast with guests Kristen and David Mittelman from Othram.
Since Chad Daybell said the end of the world was coming on July 22nd, 2020, we decided back then to do a 24-hour live broadcast. Hey, if we are all going to die, we might as well do it together, right? Well, shockingly, Chad Daybell was wrong, but just in case he got the year wrong, we do a 24-hour broadcast every year on July 22nd in honor of Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow.
Every year, we pick a children's charity to raise money for in honor of JJ and Tylee.
This year, we are raising money for Project 525 from Othram.
This is to raise money for testing the remains of unidentified children.

Since YouTube will not upload a livestream longer than 12 hours, we must broadcast it in two parts.

Some crazy logic here. Her passport and purse were not in the tent, so it’s clear she had them with her? Yeppers, not like someone couldn’t have stolen them. Her toothbrush was in the tent, so she must have been coming back? Right-y ho, does this eliminate someone assaulting her on the beach? Does it exclude a resident from wishing her harm? Would you return to a nasty situation to collect your toothbrush? Heck, you can get one for free at your next dental appointment.

There’s exactly zilch meaning to the idea “evidence suggests she left the ashram voluntarily”. Sure, she coulda left voluntarily, but that doesn’t mean she wasn’t followed from inside the ashram.

Also, there’s nothing to indicate the tent wasn’t tossed. Taylor either left it in typical tent-mess state or someone else did or both. It looks very tossed to me, but if you issue someone a loose sheet and expect them to use it on a cheap vinyl mattress, that’s what you get.

Which link has the photo of the tent? I can't find it. Thanks.

I wonder if the "party" will turn out to be key? Given the lack of cooperation we may never know. Raises the possibilities of meeting someone, possibly being drugged in a drink to set up robbery, so many things. JMOOO.

Her mother calling all of this "deeply unsettling" almost seems like an understatement! From experiences of friends, I have heard of concerns re: these types of environments, not just this one, and re: traveling alone in that part of the world. It could be an accidental drowning and wagons being circled or something darker. I hope the family is able to get closure.

Regarding sharks, it is actually quite possible especially if she was in the water at or after dusk:

10 year old bitten back in January off Paradise

Woman killed while paddleboarding just before that in Dec

Of course, normally there are remains.

The ashram is very suspicious, not least of which is how often these kind of establishments are found to be low-key cults. She didn't need to go there or any special program to get certified, you can get an RYT from any number of normal fitness schools or yoga studios in the states so my gut says something else was at play here.

this is what I keep thinking, sure Gwyneth Paltrow said it was cool...but I think there is something more pulled Taylor there...something , or someone ...or maybe somewhere other. mOO

Maybe Paltrow did that as a favor. She's severely antivax and pseudo-science-based, so I feel very dismissive of anything she endorses. To me, the ashram seems gloomy and dark, crammed in and claustrophobic, no advantage taken of the location and scenery. No zen to speak of.

this was a weird part in the article

Then two hours later police arrived to another incident on Crooked Island and Palmetto Ave. Street where a 24-year-old male was shot and killed. A 41-year-old female injured by gunfire. She was taken to hospital. The male victim was fired upon by occupants of a vehicle which opened fire on him. He died on the scene.

Friends and relatives of Taylor Casey, an American woman who went missing in The Bahamas, have raised $32,000.

The donations will help them secure an attorney and legal team, support mental health, and pay for additional trips to New Providence and Washington, DC.

No mention in that article of hiring a PI, which I thought was their intention earlier on. Seeing as though the police in the Bahamas seem to have dropped the ball (did they ever have it in the first place?) I think this would be an excellent idea.

July 25

Wesley Bell was last seen in 2013 at the yoga retreat where Taylor Casey vanished. It appears there is no evidence of foul play in either case.

In a brief phone call, his father, Don Bell, said he believes his son “drowned in the water” and added that authorities “couldn’t find him.” Bell’s mother, Marie Bell, said she had not heard about Taylor Casey going missing from the same retreat.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force has not responded to multiple requests for comment from NBC News Digital over a span of nearly two weeks.
