Silver Alert issued for missing Lafayette infant

Indiana State Police say 3-month-old Jacob Moneus was last seen Saturday, Aug. 10 around noon in Lafayette. Moneus is described as 1 foot, 11 inches tall with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt with a black bird on it as well as a diaper.

He is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.

Look at those cute little fat cheeks. He looks happy & healthy in his pic above, best I can tell.
Where in Lafayette was he last seen? At home? With a sitter?
Hoping for good news... but the quote from above in the Silver Alert, "believed to be in extreme danger," is very, very worrisome.
A prayer for this little guy and for those who truly love him.

Terrible news.

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) — A 3-month-old boy reported missing from Lafayette was found dead early Sunday morning, the Lafayette Police Department says.

Detectives were gathering information to determine the circumstances around the boy’s death.

Yet again. I just don't get it, never will. My eldest was the worst baby but she's still alive and kicking at 15, because I put her in her cot and walked away from her when she was at the worst.

Can babies be annoying? Yes. Can they be infuriating, absolutely! But there's no excuse, EVER!

About 4:38 a.m. Sunday, 28-year-old Elisard Moneus was booked into the Tippecanoe County Jail on charges of domestic battery resulting in serious bodily injury, domestic battery by means of a deadly weapon, domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years of age, and attempted murder.

Elisard Moneus is currently being held without bond for charges he faces in a domestic violence case. The domestic violence case involves one of Jacob Moneus’ family members.

Time for Indiana to re-evaluate a Silver Alert & an Amber Alert
(Didn’t they just change this??)

respectfully, i completely disagree that it’s an excuse and more of a symptom where the USA doesn’t support women’s autonomy, we don’t support families, and we don’t protect children in a meaningful way.

is that the case here? no, probably not, but the blanketed statements don’t help either

Ok, can someone please explain to me how this wasn’t an Amber Alert?

Did LE determine that Jacob wasn’t abducted, due to the person being his father?

If the mother is in the hospital due to the abuse of Elisard.. I’m not understanding

3-Year-Old Boy Found Dead After Severely Battered Mom Takes Herself to Hospital; Dad Arrested

Source

An Indiana infant found dead Sunday morning likely died before Lafayette police issued a Silver Alert for the missing child on Saturday afternoon.

Lafayette Police Sgt. Shawn Verma told the Lafayette Journal & Courier that the baby was reported missing when his mother drove herself to the hospital. She was bloodied and severely battered, Verma said, and told police her husband had used something like a tire iron to beat her.
Police headed to her apartment to look for her husband — and her baby Jacob.

“When the officers were initially inside the apartment checking out the scene, baby was nowhere to be found,” Verma said.

But the infant was in the apartment,
Verma said, and was found at about 5:30 a.m.

“The baby was located,” Verma said. “He was concealed in an area that an officer would never think to look.

The baby’s father, Elisard Moneus, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, domestic battery with serious bodily injury, domestic battery with a deadly weapon, and domestic battery in the presence of a child, all relating the beating of his wife, according to jail records. He is being held without bond.

Moneus has not yet been charged related to the baby’s death, but Verma said detectives will be questioning him about that later on Sunday.

<modsnip - quoted post was snipped>
