It’s quite possible they did find trace evidence on the backpack or its contents when it was recovered in 2001. It was wrapped in garbage bags and was found a year later as opposed to longer. They probably kept the sample of whatever they found stored away until the technology behind DNA advanced. This has happened in various cases that were solved using DNA over the last few years.Does this mean that hypothetically, the police could have found DNA on the buried items, then identified a suspect in an unknown way, confirmed the DNA somehow, then got a search warrant based on a DNA match?
They would only be able to search with probable cause like a DNA match, correct?
No, I don't think there is anything new about that girl. With all the crazy rumors flying around since the news of the search there was claims she had been identified, but seems like this was just false info. Not much has been mentioned regarding the pic. of this UID girl which was found with the books etc., did i miss something new about her?

Warrants were based on PHYSICAL evidence.... the found bookbag or it's contents maybe (?)
Probably. In stark contrast to lots of other missing person cases where they vanish with little to nothing to work with, whoever was involved here handled the bag and its contents in some capacity before of course dumping it. So good chance they left behind DNA or something.Warrants were based on PHYSICAL evidence.... the found bookbag or it's contents maybe (?)
It will be live on facebook

I believe it. Someone connected to him, like a family member. It’s quite possible the POI used one of his properties for the crimeJust finished watching, I tuned in late.

SHELBY, N.C. — Authorities spent more than 24 hours searching two properties in Cleveland County, and Channel 9 learned it was in connection with the disappearance of 9-year-old Asha Degree.Watched the beginning.
MOO as to what the attorney is hinting at next: it is possible the answers to Asha's disappearance went to some one's grave. If the affidavit is released, there will be more public speculation. He said will not be making comment after the warrant is released.
- Attorney thinks search warrant will be made public soon.
- Attorney says things may become clear if this happens. A person named in the search warrant, who is decreased, will be 'linked to Asha's disappearance." "Tenuous" connection of this person to Dedmon family.
- Will not say if Dedmon was told by police they he is a suspect.
I am thinking. If the deceased person linked to Asha's disappearance is '' tenuously" connected to Roy / the Dedmons, why were only Roy's properties searched, not the deceased's residence, etc?
Speculative. My opinion only answers: 1. They are looking for the car, it ended up in posession or use of both the deceased and Roy. Did they only search the yards? This would makr sense. 2. The person has been deceased for a while, thereford they do not have a residence of the deceased to search at. 3. Police have enough info to base searches on the crime scene being on a Dedmon residence. 4. The deceased lived at a Dedmon residence.
