I'm really surprised about the conclusions that everyone is jumping to. I can understand the anger toward Jaimee, but she was very young when Carnel was put into foster care. Obviously she was able to gain back custody, which means she did something right. AB was also obviously a bad choice, I...

Just a side note, my grandma's favorite activity is still "going for rides" and even with rosin gas costs we still try to take her out once a week for a good hour long ride. I too find it very calming sometimes if I'm stressed to just go for a spin around town, get a drink and relax. I'm also...

Just out of curiosity I haven't seen any reports on the biological father of Carnel. Has anyone heard or know of anything about him?

Oh, I know, I was just clarifying. I know quite a few people have an idea of a reservation miles in the middle of nowhere with gambling and rampant alcohol and drug use. I just wanted to try to paint a picture for people who have never been to Mt. Pleasant where this little boy was.

As someone who has been at that reservation there is NOT a crime problem. The Saginaw Chippewas keep a clean reservation. They own most of Mt. Pleasant including Central Michigan University and are vigilant when it comes to crime. In fact, when Wal-Mart moved into a bigger building and abandoned...

The way the tribal law works is that the tribal law can be handled by the tribal police, however the tribal police had the FBI step in and handed over the case. This happens when they feel as if it is above them or, in this particular case, because the federal law can pursue death penalty and...

An article about how/why AB could face the death penalty. http://www.freep.com/article/20120629/NEWS06/120629002/Missing-Boy-Found-Dead-Carnel-Chamberlain-Saginaw-Chippewa-Indian-Tribe-Mt-Pleasant?odyssey=nav%7Chead I hope I'm doing this right... sorry if how I'm posting is wrong. Still a bit new.

I'd like to bring up the fact that she herself may have been being abused by this man. There are many forms of abuse and just because she wasn't covered in bruises doesn't mean she's not hurting too. I've heard mention of a domestic violence shelter but if you look at his behavior how do you...

To the People who were talking about tribal police my mother has worked in my. Pleasant (store manager) for a long time and the tribe is very influential in town politics and actually own most of the land in Mt. Pleasant. The tribe is very good about handling cases and doesn't give special...

So far nothing new on the local news. Just a rehashing of earlier newscasts. I'll be in Mt. Pleasant tomorrow I'll post again if I find anything new.
