I just got done reading the section on media involvement in a resource guide for families of missing children on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children website. It emphasizes the importance of media in missing children cases and recommends working with the media to get the...
This isn't the first story, by a long stretch, that KTVB has headlined in a way that would seem misleading or hysteria inducing. All of the "I told you so!" posts make me feel ill.
There are a lot of mentions of similarities to Robert Manwill. Just for informational purposes, Manwill's was...
There was a reported sighting of a man and child matching little DeOrr's description in the store in Leadore at 6 pm on the day he went missing, according to dad in the interview with EastIdahoNews.com. The Walmart sighting, in Ammon, ID, was reported on Monday (and occurred on Monday?) and...
One part of the store visit scenario that bothers me is that DK says that they went "as a family." The store clerk claims to have seen a man with a child that matches little DeOrr's description in a truck that is the same color as DK's. They were adamant that the 6 pm sighting was actually...
Does anyone else feel like we should all get credit for a Mountain Lion 101 course?
Lizzzard and ILOKAL both contributed so much good information in this thread, in addition to the other posters who have previously contributed their knowledge about big predators. As I read and mull...
But if you look at harvest numbers for other units, there's one with 50 lions harvested in 2012, another with 41, multiple with 20+. The units covering and surrounding where this child disappeared have little to no lions harvested. It just doesn't appear to be a hotbed of mountain lion activity.
I just wanted to link some of the hunting info that I found on Idaho F&G. Based on the map, I believe that they were camping in unit 37.

The most recent statistics available, that I could find, on lion hunts in Idaho is from 2012...
I agree with you. Another point that makes me think that a mountain lion attack is unlikely in this particular scenario is that there was a 15 member wolf pack spotted by searchers. It is my understanding that, if possible, these large predators keep their respective hunting turfs separate...
Who was watching DeOrr when he disappeared and who thought they were supposed to be watching him seems to be a bit of a moving target, depending on the day and the person reporting the info.
*Parents thought it was GGpa, GGpa thought it was parents
*GGPa was watching him but turned his head...

So now there are two people who didn't see DeOrr wander off? Or two people who were unaware that they were responsible for him? Or two people who both took their eyes off of him for 4-10 minutes?
Someone asked if there were searches by private citizens. Based upon posts on the Reverse Speech FB site, he (the reverse speech guy) is coordinating searches based on "evidence" he has gathered. I won't post a link to the FB site or specific posts because much of his opinion would violate WS...
Right. I wasn't trying to say that our F&G officers aren't experienced and I know that they've been involved in this case from the beginning. My point was more that after a couple of days of nothing about the case, I was hoping for an update from someone more actively involved. I liked his...
I was wondering why they interviewed a F&G investigator but it looks like the guy has written some books about criminal investigations:

It still seems like a bit of a stretch but since Lemhi County sheriff's et al don't seem to be interested in...
Right. We know at 6 pm, it wasn't daddy and baby Deorr. The time discrepancy doesn't make sense - did someone really confuse early evening with the middle of the day? Especially if you consider that if it's the same clerk, you're talking about early on in her shift versus later, presumably...
Re: the timeline. I just went back and listened to the interview. Dad said that they didn't leave the campground after 1 pm. Assuming the last time the left the campground was to go to the store in Leadore and we know it's about a 40 minute drive between the store and the campsite, that would...
I camp with my kids and friends and their kids all of the time. If anyone went missing, you'd see my face all over the place, up in every reporter's face, looking all Sasquatch like from not having access to running water for days. Or at least that's what I imagine I would do so it's hard to...
I am curious why the identities of the great grandpa and friend are secret. Why are they taking photos for a possible future criminal investigation while maintaining that no criminal activity occurred? Why did the sheriff advertise the parents' willingness to take polygraphs as proof that...
The store clerk placed them in town, 40 minutes or so from the site, 5 hours after they said they were at the store and 3.5 hours after he was reported missing, right?
