Apologies I have not followed this case until they mentioned that GL was a Check and Trainer with Jetstar. After talking to friends apparently deer are quite prolific in the area….my thoughts only could there have been an altercation (given that GL had a cache of weaponary) perhaps an animal...
That’s correct they are above a Captain…..Checkers ensure standards are met and Pilots are not signed off by the checkers until they meet compliance. I’ve seen this guy on the staff bus many times. He used to fly for Qatar Airlines for around 5 years.
