I agree. DW had Philip and the adults in separate rooms. I think he took pictures and showed them to each other, in order to keep them in line throughout the night. Bach didn't spell this out yesterday - not sure what she said today - but I think the jury will infer it.
Bach showed a video yesterday of the parking lot at La Fountainebleue. An employee (I can't remember her name right now)testified that she and another coworker saw DW pacing in the parking lot, and they had an uneasy feeling about him. DW testified that he was in the parking lot after having...
Bach said the backpack was burned in the fire that Darrell witnessed - the debris pile. I know I saw a box labeled black string backpack, outside of the courtroom on a cart with other boxes of evidence on the day DW testified- but I didn't see what was inside the box so I can't say what that...
The 2010 incident with the sword wasn't mentioned in the prosecution's argument today, and I don't remember DW testifying about it. Maybe the incident wasn't allowed in - too prejudicial?
There were so many missed opportunities for help in this case. The repeated calls to the VP of the security company bother me the most. Not to blame anyone other than DW, but why didn't the repeated calls regarding the hard drive and the cloud data raise any red flags? The calls started at...
10/22 Notes:
before jury came in, discussion about issues raised over the weekend. Defense wanted a stipulation to jury about Darrell's testimony regarding his 2006 assault conviction - the assault was retaliation against someone for testifying in court and the person who was assaulted was not...
I'm back from court. I heard the prosecution closing argument, but I left before defense. I have a cold and I was struggling to contain my coughing all morning, and just didn't feel up to staying all day. Sorry about that everyone! I'll write up a summary of my notes. Closing argument ended...
I'm looking forward to hearing how the prosecution ties everything together in their closing argument. I think it's going to be really good. I also think the defense attorneys did the best they could - they weren't dealt a good hand in this case. I'll be really surprised if the jury takes...
I'm not sure if I'll go to court this afternoon if not much is going on, but I wanted to tell you guys I'm taking a vacation day on Monday to watch the closing arguments. I'll be there early to get a seat.
I think the motive was robbery, with a side of grudge factor. DW was desperate and needed money. I'm pretty sure that Savvas had to have been the richest person who DW had ever met in his life. DW lacked consistent employment, so maybe his time at AIW was one of the high points of his own...
I don't know what to make of the aiding and abetting instruction. I get the impression that the prosecution is very confident in their case. I haven't spoken to them personally, but I've seen them joking around with each other and with other court employees on breaks. My sense is that they...
I agree with this and from observing the prosecutors and overhearing their side conversations on breaks, I get the sense that they’re more than confident in their case. My concern is that a juror or two might get caught up on Darrell not testifying and read something into it. I guess we shall see.
DW’s green card was expired. He was working on renewing it, but I believe the application was returned due to some question or error. I don’t know what the issue was but it’s actually pretty common that this happens. His stepmother was helping him with the renewal application. He couldn’t get a...
