Arizona girl, 2, left in car by father on 109-degree day and is found dead

https://people.com/dozens-of-kids-die-in-hot-cars-every-year-how-good-intentions-faulty-memory-can-create-disaster-8680537 I remember reading about this car death case when it happened. Dad accidentally left toddler in car when he went to work. As soon as he found the baby, he ended his life...

Arizona girl, 2, left in car by father on 109-degree day and is found dead

There already is technology. I get an alert on my dashboard with a light up display of the seat that has weight on it when the car is turned off. My car is a 2019. I assume by the end of this decade it will be standard. In this case, unfortunately, it wouldn’t have mattered since he...

Arizona girl, 2, left in car by father on 109-degree day and is found dead

Yes, when they’re older it can be crazy. But when little like Parker, often your days are dictated by nap schedules, colds, finances, etc. I remember the saying, “The days are long, but the years are short” or something like that. So true. With 2 older kids and a toddler, he should not have...

Arizona girl, 2, left in car by father on 109-degree day and is found dead

Yes, mine does that. But when it’s remotely started, it will turn off after 10 mins if I don’t get in. Last weekend I went to a car wash (where you sit in the car while it goes thru) and then drive into a covered bay to vacuum and clean the interior. In the middle of cleaning inside, I turned it...

A stay at home parent could definitely be a pillar of the community. Church, volunteering, coac, actually parenting.

Arizona girl, 2, left in car by father on 109-degree day and is found dead

Well, speaking as a former stay at home mom, some days are torture. Some days are so boring, monotonous, stab your eyes with a pencil day…. Not for the weak at heart. But that’s your job. To raise little people, keep them safe, and hopefully do a decent enough job that they become good community...

Arizona girl, 2, left in car by father on 109-degree day and is found dead

If I was the prosecutor m not sure I’d give a plea. IMO this isn’t forgotten baby syndrome. He left her there on purpose. With her iPad in case she woke up. Sure he forgot about her later, but this is a whole different scenario than someone who drives to work and forgets baby in the back wasn’t...

Plus in that heat, she’d die anyway. Just would have maybe taken a little longer.

Exactly. That’s what bed time is for! That’s when a parent decompresses (unless another responsible party is there to take over).

And they probably witnessed mom performing CPR on her poor little body, so that will be in their memories for years to come. So horrible. Mom may be in complete shock. Will be curious if she truly forgives him in the long term. Their perfect toddler suffered an excruciating death due to his...

Arizona girl, 2, left in car by father on 109-degree day and is found dead

I assumed she didn’t want to be seen because she’s a hospital physician and wanted to keep her identity private. I do not envy her. She is in a horrible situation and is a victim as well.

Well the kids ratted him out. He has a pattern of negligence. I certainly hope the case goes thru the system and he is convicted. I’m sure it will make a horrible situation worse for his wife and kids, but he definitely needs to be in prison. This wasn’t a mistake. He purposefully left her in...

Right. And probably carbon monoxide poisoning if it’s in your garage

Yes. I can start my car with my fob or an app on my phone. However, in both instances, the car will only stay running for 10 minutes.

Arizona girl, 2, left in car by father on 109-degree day and is found dead

Exactly. I sat in my minivan so many afternoons with a sleeping toddler in the car seat. It was before smartphones so I’d usually read magazines or books. And this was even during mild weather.

Assume family will step in to care take. I imagine court and police officers will be checking on him. I can’t imagine a scenario where he won’t serve jail time. If I were him, I’d plead guilty immediately and start the sentence. Then he can be around when the kids are still at home. His life is...

I agree. Her affect was odd. Unemotional (or perhaps without the emotion we’d expect). Curious what the texts said. Assume he’s done it before (not just once), and assume she criticized him and told him not to do it (she’s a Dr at a hospital, she sees worst case scenarios daily). I’d lose my...

That was interesting. Mom was so calm and professional. Maybe her medical background. Dad, only while she was speaking, looked like he was having convulsions.

And I believe the garage door was shut because he entered thru the front door. Not that that helps her in the hot car, but you’d think he’d keep the garage open to pop out and check on her.
