The only way to do this would be to remove the "invisible" ability for everybody. That would not be fair to the registered users. I can remove the ability for just the mods but it would not be fair to promote somebody to mod yet take away abilities.

It has been a tough week and a half. Keep in mind that the last time we had traffic like this (when The Killing Season aired) we were running not just the one server but 2 In other words 40 cores of processor (80 threads) 8 512GB SSD drives (these are the super fast hard drives) set in Raid 1+0...

Search engine spiders aka robots are treated as guests. They are able to read only what is in the public view for any other guest to read. If the content is behind a login such as private threads, history or conversations (pms), it is not viewable to the robots.

I can and have taken steps to discourage spam, but eliminating it completely will never happen. Done = removed

Jasper, you can be comfortable knowing it is not spyware. It is simply a request by an ad server wanting to know IF they can check to see if you are in say Dallas so they can serve ads more relevant to the area. You may still get these from time to time but the culprit that was doing it so often...

This is not aimed at anybody specific, it is aimed at anybody that has been giving opinions but the only experience is from your laptop. I would really appreciate it if everybody would quit with the wild guesses of what is going on. Or, if you are going to be giving your tech opinions please...

Things have calmed quite a bit but are not yet complete. I ask for your continued patience while we work to resolve the issues. Keep in mind traffic has tripled over the last 2 weeks. The optimization I have done in the last week has done a really good job at handling the increased load...

thank you, I do not need any further reports on this issue. Once I believe the optimization to be complete I will let y'all know, at that point I will be ready to listen to your experiences.

This does not mean you will not see slow downs. Heck, pageviews are up 29% just since yesterday. This also does not mean I am done making adjustments. There is a lot to do, it will take at least a couple of weeks.
