This is one of the cases I still think about a lot. I hope that Sabrina can meet her siblings someday. (I don't know whether the twins are boys, girls, or one of each, so I've defaulted to siblings.)
That's a lot for a parental kidnapping case. More often the sentence is in months, or even more often no sentence at all.
I don't like it either, but after seeing it dozens of times I'm used to it. Right now I'm just glad Luke was found quickly and safely.
Centers aren't really much better. I can think of half a dozen family abductions off the top of my head where the kid was taken from a supervised visit at a center. And that's not counting some foster care cases.
If the supervisor is a friend or family member of the parent needing supervision, easily.
I've also seen cases where the parent overpowers the supervisor and takes off.
