A detail came out that wasn't known-he used camouflage burlap which obviously hides the bodies more. Burlap is very porous so the decomposition is quicker. I'm not certain how many more of the bodies were in burlap.

I think you're on the right track with this-unless the killer was able to completely avoid using their phone there are going to be clues. Yes, a vendetta oriented killer would be be so prone to typing things, I think it's just a matter of time before LE solves it. MOO

Maybe it's just me, regardless of whether or not it was the killer or an accomplice (or neither), speeding doesn't seem like a particularly bright thing to do at any hour of the day/night if you're wanting to be unobtrusive. But adrenaline and nerves do have to be taken account of in that situation.
