    GUILTY UK - Joanna Yeates, 25, Clifton, Bristol, 17 Dec 2010 #16

There was a lot of legal drama going on behind the scenes of this case that we knew nothing about. As well as the attempts by the prosecution to get the evidence of his sick preoccupations into court, we now learn from an article in The Independent that the press and BBC were instructing...

That reminds me of something that made me laugh: Will he be deported? Not if he has a pet mouse in prison. :floorlaugh:

They searched his flat on I think 23 December (going by memory as to the precise date) and the police said something to the effect that his response on that occasion was appropriate and normal. From that, I think they saw no specific signs or reasons to suspect him. It is a great pity that...

Have we been told that they didn't find any? I would think they did. We never did find out about the door did we? Perhaps they didn't mention it because they didn't need it for the court case because he admitted and testified in his defence statement that he was in Joanna and Greg's flat.

It reads like a prepared formal statement. It is as if he is saying what he thinks is the expected thing to say in such circumstances. Part of the reason he might do that is that he is in a foreign country and speaking in a foreign language. He might therefore be less sure of his ability to...

I had been wondering if they had left out of deference to the feelings of Joanna's family and Greg.

I am so happy Greg was able to hear the word pronounced in court and to look at the face of that sick twisted individual. One moment of satisfaction at least. That's the moment her parents, brother, Greg and close friends wanted. So glad for them.

Oh God, what a sicko. How depraved. And to think that some people nearly bought his innocent act - despite his obvious lying and evasion.

Thank you, thank you, judge. It was the judge what swung it! That judge knew what he was doing. Once I saw that, I had faith. I am so relieved. It would have been too awful to contemplate that he would get away with his sorry act and sorry excuses with all his lying, dissembling and playing fast...

Thanks for the information and link, Curious Alice and Clio. I'm sure I saw references to it in this thread or in newspapers but didn't read any of them. Edit to add: And FiestyFairy.

That sounds extraordinary. Not having read the case, though, I have no idea how that came about.

A not guilty verdict would worry me because it would imply that you can strangle and smother someone to death and avoid being found guilty of murder if you say you didn't mean any harm and make ludicrous statements such as that you didn't know that strangling and smothering led to death. It must...

There may be only one or two who aren't sure or who are addressing a different question or taking a different view from the rest.

That's it. He also held her mouth shut at the same time. In court when he was asked a question along the lines of what would happen when you press someone's mouth and neck, he said he didn't know. Does anyone seriously believe that? It looks as if someone on the jury does.

Demanding or forcing a kiss and putting an arm around someone who doesn't want any such contact is sexual and grounds for complaint of a sexual assault. Joanna may have had a fear of being alone for the weekend in that flat. I don't know why mention that she is 25. It is a sort of fear that...

Someone earlier today was talking about him driving and being seen on CCTV at 10 15 pm. They didn't say where that was, though or which CCTV cameras.
