Any information released to the public might have 1 of 2 purposes:
1. To gather information from the public
2. To speak to [play mind games with] the perpetrator/s.
These can overlap / occur at the same time.
National billboards + local perpetrator/s are not necessarily "ironic".
AFAIK we have no information about anything that might have happened before the girls were dropped off at the trail by a family member. (Some reports say Libby's older sister dropped them off.)
They were reported missing at 5.30 after failing to meet at an arranged pickup by a "family member"...
MOO: If the phones were pinging all around town then that suggests that the phones were in a car.
A car was taken from RL's property and . . . .
MOO: LE will check that car for trace evidence of Libby and / or Abby. Even the smallest hint of transfer DNA. . . .
And possibly more than one [separate] crime scene.
My current working theory is that LE might be missing a crime scene. (That this crime has more than one location.)
Ive always assumed that the girls came off the end of bridge and were then forced to wade across the creek to the area...
Because there are laws governing the issuing of search warrants. A judge won't approve a search warrant simply because police are curious.
My guess is that the police came up with enough to convince a judge to issue a warrant.
Yes, it struck me as an odd comment. Partly because it seemed to assume that the girls came down the hill (behind him / north side of the creek) instead of coming across the creek from the south.
What does that even mean?
It's standard procedure to serve a search warrant when LE wants to search something?
Judges don't rubber stamp search warrants for no reason.
I think the reference is to Michael Stroup’s interview of Sheriff Leazenby.
Michael Stroup made a comment about not recognising the suspect as a local. Seemed to me that M Stroup was trying to get the Sheriff to provide some feedback on that point.
The Sheriff was careful with his...
Cold and calculating means he knows exactly what he's doing. The legal definition of 'insanity' has been modified over the years, but if he knows exactly what he's doing -- if he understands the nature and quality of the act -- then he's not insane.(MOO)
I tend to agree. It reminds me of the Obo Chandler case. He murdered Joanne Rogers and her 2 daughters. That element of building fear -- 2 victims watch as the 1st is killed, then 1 watches as the 2nd is killed seemed to be part of his signature. He enjoyed building fear and watching the fear...
True, but serial killers are not as common as movies / TV might have us believe.
Radford University has some serial killer statistics available online.
Number of serial killer victims by year (USA):
2010 -- 129
2011 -- 91
2012 -- 101
2013 -- 70
2014 -- 71
2015 -- 57
2016 -- 25
(For years...
The problem is the 5,572 murders where we simply don't know whether victim and killer did or did not know each other. It's impossible to say what's lurking in those 5,572 cases.
I suspect (MOO) that it's more difficult to solve cases in which there was no relationship, so strangers might be...
If they don't have DNA then there is certainly an advantage in letting the killer think that they do have DNA. It puts pressure on the killer.
Someone who is innocent is unlikely to object to providing a swab. How someone reacts to being asked to provide a swab can in itself provide LE with...
Someone asked about murder statistics showing relationship (if any) between killers and victims I cant find the post again, but think it was in the previous thread.
FBI statistics are available online, including 2013 Murder Circumstances by relationship (NB: *relationship is that of...
Something I always keep in the back of my head when reading 'quotes' from police is that they tend to only release (say) what they want the public to know or think. If he said, "I think we have the golden clue", then that might put people off sending in more tips.
Also, when speaking for...
