The teenage girl didnt find it. It was handed to her by one of the killers. That's a mountain of difference from going into a convicted felon's past home... that just happens to have a connection to a member of the family... and touching and removing anything. Man Describes Dismemberment of...

The why on the cars and the lake rabbit hole can more than likely be found in an earlier post in thread 3.

I understand that. But as I said, I am of the opinion that the best way to help (and by help, I mean not hurt) an investigation would be to let professionals handle (as in pick up and remove) possible evidence.

I'm not LE by any stretch of the imagination. But I would think a private individual searching the former home of WFS and removing from the property what they think could be evidence (bag of human teeth) could very well put a damper on LE ever being able to use it as evidence. PD should have...

Just trying to help: TOS states that we can't post the name of any POI that has not been made public by LE. There have been no named POIs for this case. Also, is does not allow sluething of family members or those persons that we think are POIs. Not trying to boss. Just really want this forum...

Yes. I understand that a confession alone is not enough for an arrest and prosecution. At least not if you want a conviction to stick.

Those photos were never released to anyone other than LEA across the country. Whether FWPD did due diligence is another question.

I think it was worded less then 5. But yes. I agree that number has probably dropped since then.

HLL and OT confessed to many murders. They are dead now. LE thinks some of those confessions are bs. But they feel others were truthful. Not talking about personal idems belonging to the victims. Referring to the 100s of photos found in MD's storage unit. Also, I didn't mean if person A was a...

One more question Lineman. Do I understand correctly that theoretically, LE could be confident that they know who is responsible, but for some reason (such as death) can not move forward, and no one would ever know?

First, thank you are answering. It's much appreciated and very helpful. Would LE say if an open case was inactive?

So if dead, convicted serial killer A made a confession, the families would ever know? Or if pictures were indentified in a convicted counterfeiter and killer's possessions, the families would never know? Or if dear old dead 4th cousin John Doe had been cleared, the families would never know?

Questions to anyone with LE background. 1.What exactly happens with a case if all the POIs are dead? Does it just sit there open, but untouched? Would the families ever be told? 2.If there were a confession, but not an iron clad one that lead to prosecution (like in the case of many serials...

James McAlphin's letters claiming that EDJD knew the girls are of interest for me. I agree that he would not have been a POI.

James McAlphin. I was just talking to a friend about looking at his letters.

I know there were in the late 70s in little ole McKinney. I imagine it was no different in other places.

(my own experience) I completely disagree that it's likely the only males that Rachel would have known would be via <modsnip-name> TT. Like Rachel, I was married at 17, husband was 20, and lived in the town that I had lived my whole life. I knew tons of boys my own age via school, and guys my...
