    The Crown v Gerard Baden-Clay, 11th -12th June - Trial Days 2 & 3 - Week 1

But a suspect of what crime? At that point Allison was only missing.

Thanks, MarlyWings. I'm sure we'll hear more about this during the trial (ie another attending police officer or two who will attest they didn't dissuade GBC from helping). This will directly contradict what GBC told Wendy - a clear-cut example of dishonesty/deception that will cast a pall on...

Can someone refresh my memory from a discussion many months ago about why Gerard didn't participate in the search? Today we heard that he texted Wendy Mollah to say he had been told to "leave it to the professionals", but didn't Det Atkinson contradict this at some point?

Now, THIS is sounding much more suss. No-one wanders around the house while shaving with a razor and foam. He wanted the girls to make the shaving connection BEFORE they saw the cuts. How on earth does such clear thinking immediately follow an act of madness?

That's certainly plausible, Trooper, but if they are the dots the prosecution want us to join, they need to be more explicit about it in my opinion.

Yep, this is weird because they all had sausages for dinner at the grandies and went home. Maybe he passed on the sausages and said he wasn't feeling well?

It's certainly possible to "coach" a child; much harder to have two singing from the same songbook. The picture the girls' answers paint is not of a house in turmoil nor one filled with nightly screaming matches. Day 2 goes to the defence.

Why does one need to wear shoes to do the ironing? Why was it even discussed? Was the iron downstairs?

But surely one of the questions a police officer would ask would be "Has Daddy or anyone told you what to say to the police?" and it would be difficult for a child to mask their honest response to this question.

I fear the prosecution's modus operandi today - to establish that Allison was "happy" and "looking to the future" on the day of and prior to her death - is risky. There are many, many instances of suicide that are immediately prefaced by a seemingly happy passage of activity. Families and...

Has a record of domestic violence ever been established, or only alluded to?

Agree. (Scoutmaster) GBC would have known that to park on the side of the bridge, even for the shortest amount of time, would have attracted local interest at any time of the day or night. I feel he has made the effort that night, a panicked and desperate effort, to park to the side of the road...

The best defence against a circumstantial case is a plausible alternative theory. There is none in this instance. That said, there is little difference between this case and the case of Lloyd Rayney in my state (WA) ... no physical evidence, everything circumstantial, no plausible alternative...

I heard from a very reliable source today that Mother BC stayed on in court this afternoon and Father BC caught the train home from the city because he and OW cannot sit in on any more proceedings owing to their witness obligations.

Good point. I guess you don't have to make a lot of noise to kill someone, especially if he immediately smothered her mouth, in which case a victim's most instinctive response would be to scratch/hit out. Sorry for the graphic image. Just trying to imagine how the girls didn't wake up (and also...

Based on the girls being at home and Allison having shoes on etc, does it seem more likely now that the murder didn't occur at home but perhaps that Allison left the house on foot after an argument and GBC went after her in his car?

Thanks to the WS folk attending court. Can you please advise whether Toni McHugh's name was on the witness list?

    Allison Baden-Clay - GENERAL DISCUSSION THREAD #48

I've been an intermittent visitor to this site since mid-2012, having been directed here by a former work associate of GBC's. I believe there are several, if not many, people contributing who have more than a general curiosity about this case (as in, are directly linked to either GBC or...
