OH - Pike County: 8 people from one family dead as police hunt for killer(s) - #23

I think you make some very valid points. Even with the theory of outside killers, I think it's extremely possible that they had a family member or someone familiar with the victims who helped by providing details beforehand about the dogs, house layout, cameras, etc.

Even if this was killers from the outside, that doesn't mean it didn't originate locally. Maybe someone the Rhodens angered knows a guy who knows a guy etc etc. I think that's probably more likely than a Mexican cartel ordered hit.

OH - Pike County: 8 people from one family dead as police hunt for killer(s) - #23

Very good point about staying undetected in the area! I think these killers, while they may have done some local prep work or reconnaissance prior, came in to do the job and hauled *advertiser censored** out of town.

OH - Pike County: 8 people from one family dead as police hunt for killer(s) - #23

Anything's possible. But what I keep coming back to is the scope. 8 people in 4 locations. That's just mind blowing. Kept the children alive, too. It's all just so bizarre.

Plz understand that I do not equate education level with intelligence. I've met many people w a college degree who are dumb as rocks. Just means they were able to follow through. But I do live in southern Ohio and have roots here. While u don't need to be in mensa to commit a crime, there is a...

Hmm that's interesting. I think anything is possible at this point. Definitely wouldn't be surprised if it was related to money or drugs.

Don't be getting your panties in a bunch. Geez. I'm talking about pulling off 8 murders with no trace. LE has some pretty amazing tools at their disposal these days. DNA, etc. It's not easy to do this kind of thing. Humans are imperfect beings, esp if they're intoxicated with drugs or alcohol...

Everyone reacts different to things. I don't know. My mom grew up in southern Ohio, and I went to school there. I wasn't surprised by his reaction.

Yeah that's very true, but it still just boggles the mind. I've never worked in LE, but my gosh, 8 people killed and no evidence left behind? No family member or friend talking? I know it's a rural area, but I'm still just amazed by this whole thing.

Definitely not the way I'd react, but the folks down there in that part of the state are a different breed. They haven't led easy lives, and I don't think much phases them. Plus if the Rhodens caused any trouble, he may not have been totally surprised by it.

OH - Pike County: 8 people from one family dead as police hunt for killer(s) - #23

Taking a step back, this case is basically cold. It's been almost 9 months. We can all agree the family members are generally uneducated and "unsophisticated." Do people honestly think these folks could pull off a crime like this and totally stump LE?? I just don't buy it. While it may not be a...

In your research about cockfighting have you found any cases like this with so many victims or multiple members of one family? The "9th victim stories" have always bothered me. Too coincidental that all these people had last-minute change of plans.

I don't have the foggiest idea how Fran DeWine would know anything about cockfighting lol. That's pretty weird. I think cockfighting is just as plausible as any other theory out there. But I don't think some Mexican hit man did it. Had to be someone local.

That's interesting! I recall reading how the Sheriff revised his statement (threatening arrest for not talking) to include neighbors.

I'm not a lawyer, but I don't think prosecutors have to prove motive to get a conviction. However most juries want that info, so it's possible.

@bootsctr Thanks for the welcome! After lurking a while thought I would participate finally. :) I live 90 minutes nw from the scene. Def agree it was someone who knew the family. My hypothesis is just speculation of course, but when I think about all the theories out there it just makes the...

I think the murders were related somehow to the land/property CR1 owned. Land is a big deal and at the heart of many feuds. This kind of brutality doesn't strike me as related to love/relationships. Also have a tough time believing any family member could do this. Could be drugs but I'm leaning...
