    General Discussion and Theories

You hit the nail on the head - if interest rates were at 10% (or 20%+ as they were in the 80's), it would be smart to pay all cash for your home, or anything else for that matter. However, with interest rates being what they are, it is much smarter to take out a mortgage for your home or a...

    General Discussion and Theories

I'm not sure why this keeps coming up, and of course you don't know anything about me or who I am, so you can assume what you want. It is however a known fact that wealthy people don't usually buy their property outright. They lease their cars and mortgage their houses because their money is...

    General Discussion and Theories

I don't think anyone is getting confused, and "pay cash" does not mean what you think. When there is a condition on financing in an agreement, it means that the buyer needs time for their bank to approve their mortgage. If a buyer were willing and able to "pay cash", they would not need a...

    General Discussion and Theories

What the hell? That article is bizarre. Why did the writer not ask the guy for the explanation given for the blood in the boat? Sorta sounds like it was written by an amateur, hopefully there are some follow-up stories by more professional MSM soon.

Exactly why my clients don't "pay cash" for their property ;) They have much better things to do with their money. Anyway, back on topic. Whether or not DM paid cash or not doesn't likely make any difference, no point in squabbling over it.

In Canada they most certainly are. Take a quick read here: http://www.fintrac-canafe.gc.ca/reporting-declaration/info/rptlctr-eng.asp

Police return to North Dumfries farm -- 28 May 2013

Hmm... yes that probably explains why I always see mountains of gold bars and precious gems in their basements.

<modsnip> I deal with extremely wealthy people all the time, and they never "pay cash" for their property. Take from that what you will.

    General Discussion and Theories

<modsnip> These posts are referring to provincial regulations regarding development of land that is zoned agricultural. Unless a dwelling already exists on the land (making it agricultural with a dwelling), it can be very difficult to re-zone to allow a residential dwelling to be constructed...

I highly doubt he paid cash, but I'm sure he could have come up with it if he wanted to.

Police return to North Dumfries farm -- 28 May 2013

I'm a real estate agent - this happens all the time. I always discourage people from it, because they have their best shot with someone who is solely working in their interests, but they still do it. As for "representing himself", more than likely he would have had the selling agent prepare...

Police return to North Dumfries farm -- 28 May 2013

Very doubtful. The whole "jurisdiction" thing is often misunderstood. If HPS found something, it's not like they would just step back, email TPS, and say hey guys, when you have a minute, come check out this evidence we may have found that could link to a homicide. They searched the farm almost...

Police return to North Dumfries farm -- 28 May 2013

My guess is that this is an old farm, tons of biological material scattered all over the place, pretty much impossible for a dog to distinguish one from another. A bit of a needle in a haystack (or a needle buried in numerous acres of dirt).

Police return to North Dumfries farm -- 28 May 2013

There is absolutely no logical reason for DM to provide any info about additional crimes related to the farm... there is no possible way it could help him get a "deal". It would only benefit someone who did not commit the crime in question.

I'm pretty confident that they know what they're doing. It is their job, after all.

Why would DM tell police he killed his ex? If anything MS is likely the one who is singing, giving them anything he can to get a deal.

    Canada - Laura Babcock, 23, Toronto, 26 June 2012

As reported on CBC, it's actually the Toronto Police Service who are currently at the farm, apparently it's their first time being there.

After considering some of the replies in here, looking at my map, etc... I'm beginning to accept the fact that they planned a theft, it went wrong, and the tattoo and phone brought them down. They tried to get rid of evidence in places that were familiar to them, and felt confident there was no...

Here is a map I've created - I would make it open to anyone for editing, but I fear it would end up being vandalized at some point: http://goo.gl/maps/TDIKg Let me know if anything should be added or modified, I think I got most of it right. I can edit map points, add them, whatever. Not sure...
