My cyrillic isn't great, but from what I could see of his "hit list", at least one of the victims from the shooting was included on it. Really horrible.
I live in Belgrade, 15 minutes on foot from Vladislav Ribnikar. I never, ever thought this would happen here. Yesterday I went to lay flowers and it was heartbreaking and surreal. Everyone I know is in an absolute state of shock, especially as there was another mass shooting in nearby Mladenovac...
Feeling emotional today but burst out crying when I saw he'd been found safe! Think it was the picture of him and his wife smiling and reunited that did me in. 62 is so young to be living with dementia. Looks like he's surrounded by family and his wife who really love him, and the GPS tracker is...
Wow, so much love and respect for your daughter! It always warms my heart soo much when I see people who are determined to help those struggling with addiction, because it still often feels like such a dirty word/dirty illness, if that makes sense...so much taboo and misunderstanding around it...
Thank you so much! That really means a lot. It definitely isn't easy, but it is worth it – over the past six years I've definitely had to adjust my expectations when it comes to what things are worth. Like, being sober is so hard a lot of the time and requires constant hard work and questioning...
I am 100% for harm reduction centers, safe needle exchange sites, and people who know and love addicts or are addicts themselves being able to possess things like Narcan. I know some people disagree with harm reduction measures on the grounds that they "enable" addiction but I think it is...
I am a recovering addict (just hit my 6th year of sobriety) and just want to say that I very much agree with you here. My addiction/mental health issues really ramped up when I went to university but were at their worse when I was in my early/mid-20s and actually living at home with my parents...
This made me tear up – what beautiful words and what an amazing person. I know it is such a small consolation when you are all hurting so much but I will remember Bruce because of how clear your love is for him. You have done him a great justice by posting here and letting us know what he was...
Don't worry, I didn't take it personally! I saw your second post (the one I quoted) and totally understood where you were coming from :) I didn't know that this was part of their recruitment policy so it was interesting to see!
Completely agree with you on this. You're absolutely right when you say that most people's reactions are to laugh at these kind of crimes when they are actually super troubling and cause a lot of trauma to the victims – and like you said, absolutely should ring serious alarm bells!
Interesting, I never knew this part about the antidepressants – it really does cut out a huge chunk of people with mental illnesses or problems (I also have bipolar so understand being on medications for life!|)
As someone who has bipolar disorder, I appreciate this reply. People with mental illnesses are much more likely to harm themselves than others, and to actually be the victims of violent crimes. Generally, bipolar disorder does not present itself as "up and down" as people tend to think, so imo...
This is one of the saddest cases I've seen on here in a long time. When I was around 10 or 11, my best friend at the time attempted to take her own life by ODing on pills, was thankfully saved, and was then committed to a child's psychiatric ward for a while. I remember that at the time it...
I've seen a bunch of (unconfirmed) comments on Twitter etc saying the same thing. Not necessarily that the body was found in the house, but that the dad has committed suicide. I've been following this case pretty much since the beginning and I still have NO idea what to think, argh. I think we...
That's fine! I definitely don't think I'm in fear of the thought police though, haha - these are my genuine opinions, they're not borne out of a need to be PC. Mostly I guess I'm just a bit of an idealist, I always have been! It's one of those situations where we'll have to agree to disagree on...
I agree :) I think I've come to the conclusion that my view on it is that in a perfect world we should all be able to get drunk, do silly things, and not be raped/attacked/murdered etc, but that the world we live in is extreeeemely far from perfect and therefore I am going to take all possible...
