I don't think KD said that the murders weren't planned beforehand, just that the plan came together quickly. I took this to mean in the days leading up to the murders, not while they were in the house.

Fair enough, but this still leaves the biggest question...who would want the bodies staged, and why? It just seems so odd that it either points to motive or was intentionally done as a complete red herring.

Except they also left BS's gloves and papers right on the floor in plain sight too, which kind of defeats the purpose if it was to delay finding he bodies.

The fact that she wasn't concerned until some time had passed and things had sunk in is completely normal to me. And going back to the cottage is a clear sign of innocence. If you believe she is guilty, then you also believe she returned to the scene of the crime, not once, but twice, before it...
