I tried to edit the quote I mentioned in my previous post to use only initials per rules, but was unable to (I think too much time had passed). Sorry about that.

I've been absent on here for awhile, and am catching up again. You may recall I continue to focus on DM as the POI in LS's disappearance. Some things I've read recently caught my attention: 1. DM's second assault case is making it's way through the court system. I would be shocked if it...

It is possible it was not enough to move on, and remember DM, DH & JW are all already serving time, so....

I am finishing up some other research, and will try to put together a timeline, with Yeahbab's map(s), of what we seem to have so far. Unfortunately the searches of JW's properties seem to have been a bust, but I am wondering if there are other properties owned by these families that DM might...

This show and the Brown County prosecutor who secured the DM conviction for murdering HW describes exactly what he thinks happened with HW, and what we have already theorized here (prior to this show), which is that DM was heading out on S.R.45 (East/Northeast) and ran into the "Road Closed"...

Yes, but I wasn't thinking about the lake itself (109 acres). There are an additional 1200 acres of nature preserve owned by the City of Bloomington and/or Indiana University. Lots of hiking trails, and very remote areas that are difficult to access without intimate knowledge of the area.

I agree Yeahbabs, and while I don't necessarily think stepfather is explicitly involved or shady, the possibility exists that he may possess more information than even he realizes. So who else could DM be protecting? I haven't researched his family tree in a while, but if I have enough time I...

What if DM is protecting someone else...someone he actually cares about....??

I agree Matic that IF the "friends" are responsible, we may never know what happened to her, because there are too many directions to follow. But IF they were not responsible, then hopefully LS is still somewhere in Indiana waiting to be found, and in that case, no search is in vain....

I am linking to my 1/30/16 post from Thread 34, Post #935. Here I postulated that DM has been involved in many more assaults, but I focused only on those with a police composite/sketch. I am not at all surprised that more are now coming forward, and also not surprised that LS & HW moms are also...

Didn't that happen back in February (the Rivera arrest)?

If DM had worn clothing that night that had also been worn by someone else (like his dad), I could also see how DNA under HW's nails could have included unknowns, since it seemed apparent she scratched the crap out of DM.

Also, given DM's violent history, I'm not surprised that unknown blood would be found in his car and on his clothing.

I think in the trial there is no attempt to pursue whether the unknown's DNA found in various places came from the same person. They made it sound like it was lots of different DNA, which could have been cross contamination. We all have other people's DNA on us all of the time. I am wondering...

Also, in criminal legal terms "motive" is different from "intent," which is why intent is what the prosecution has to prove. In other words, the prosecution needs to prove that the accused intended to cause harm. Motive is sometimes offered but it's not necessary.

The trial evidence from prosecution included surveillance video from local businesses of what prosecutors described as DM's Kia following the taxi that took her home, and video also showed him circling the block where she lived six times.

According to awesome reporter @becca_costello who live tweeted during the trial #messeltrial, the prosecutors did not offer a motive, nor are they required to from my limited understanding of criminal law procedure.

For a murder to be eligible for the death penalty in Indiana, an aggravating circumstance (see http://deathpenalty.procon.org/view.resource.php?resourceID=1382) must be proven. A brief glance at this list tells me they perhaps did not think they had enough evidence to go for the DP. There was...
