I’ve been thinking: we were discussing today that Masipa gave him 5 years (the CH) and 3 suspended (Tasha). Conditon was no gun related crime. Someone (sorry, I can’t remember who) came with a very valid point that it doesn’t make sense - how can OP commit a gun related crime...

I saw him on TV after the sentencing today. He said it was not fair for OP. They asked him: "What about fairness for the Steenkamps?" He said: "I’m not talking about the Steenkamps".

I didn’t know that if the State appeals then OP can get a bail and be out waiting for the new judgement

I feel the same - I have never wanted OP to suffer, but I want him to face up to what he did. The poor in SA prisons suffer - the rich "buy" their privileges. I believe OP will do what the rich have done before him - buy himself a bearable time. Nothing will change for the poor I’m afraid.
