    I stand corrected!

JLM: What Do We Know About Him?

My original comment was not meant to disparage nursing as a career. But is is very unlikely that HG as 2nd year undergraduate was a nursing student. UVA doesn't have an undergraduate nursing program-- the only thing they offer is a masters.

JLM: What Do We Know About Him?

From what I understand, HG had straight As at UVA. That sounds more like pre-med than nursing to me.

JLM: Morgan Harrington/Fairfax Rape Victim - *Forensic Link* to MH #2

There was in fact some flesh still attached-- enough to get DNA samples. Several posters have posted links on the subject earlier today.

JLM: Morgan Harrington/Fairfax Rape Victim - *Forensic Link* to MH #2

Here's something else I recently learned about DNA evidence. Not all DNA evidence is in a suitable format to be entered into CODIS; so LE can't exclusively rely on CODIS matches for DNA collected at crime scenes. That's about all I really know about the subject, but I suspect we will be hearing...

The Harringtons are both medical professionals and were given the autopsy report by LE. It is probably safe to assume that if they say MH's bones were broken prior to her death, which they have described as brutal and sadistic, that is probably an accurate statement.

I think that some things other than just her skeleton were found. I am pretty sure her bracelet was found at the same site. There may have been some remnants of her clothing--although obviously not her shirt.

    JLM: Other Possible Victims

I have read nothing that says this, but I have assumed that there was some kind of assault involved with the case. Why else would they be looking at JM as a possible suspect. I think JM is primarily a rapist, and kills women when certain triggers occur. I think he is full of rage.

I have been wondering that myself. Once a perp is convicted and imprisoned, how are any subsequent charges handled? Is he tried from a prison cell-- even if he has a life sentence?

    JLM: Other Possible Victims

As I understand it, certain kinds of predators like to defile women after they have killed them. Not going to go into details here, but you can google it to learn more.

I agree with you, and that was a poor choice of words on my part. Better to say "any possibility that he was involved with others." I am not going to pursue this further at the moment. But I think that reading JM as psychopathic serial killer (which is not to say he hasn't killed multiple...

There are known trafficking problems in Northern VA (north of Cville), Richmond (east of Cville), and Harrisonburg (west of Cville). There was also a case a few months in Albemarle County (next to Cville), of a local man who was kidnapped by local gang members and murdered. They found his body...

Not the only reason. I am relieved they have caught JM and he is off the streets. But if there is any possibility that he was involved in something more organized, I would like to see that possibility fully investigated. Spoken as a local:)

My guess is that Longo suspected JM before the CPD made the Sal's Pizza and Tuel's videos public. Doing that was a tactical decision, to borrow a phrase.

Well, if you want to blame someone, then you should blame VA State Police. Charlottesville PD had no jurisdiction over the MH case.

I have a family member who works with mentally handicapped adults. She believes that those who are only marginally handicapped often have the most behavioral problems-- that is because they are sensible enough to know that they are somehow different.

[/B] Very much so. There are parts of Nelson County that are extremely remote, and it is very sparsely populated. I've spent a fair amount of time there in the past.

I don't think that all trafficking is done by sophisticated syndicates. It is also my understanding that organized criminal activity often recruits locals as fronts.

I am saying nothing:) You will get creamed for bringing that subject here. FYI, the way that many women are introduced into trafficking is by first being brutally beaten and raped. And trafficking has many meanings under the law.
