LE had put up cameras at the crime scene a couple of months ago to record plates of cars stopping there. I'm not sure if they are still up or not, but I am guessing they still are.
Radford is a short road with a denser population. It's also pretty narrow so a parked car would basically be in front of someone's house and draw attention. If you ever read the Landmark (the 5-town newspaper), virtually any parked car on the side of a road gets a call into police. So in my...
To be honest, I can see both scenarios. I would say that Princeton is an extremely close knit community and most everyone knows everyone. So if it is a local, then others definitely know and are protecting him and I don't see a local taking that risk. Just my two cents though. I would say...
Are you talking about the building closer toward the center of town? That is Wachusett House and primarily home to many elderly. It is HUD but really just a lot of elderly. http://affordablehousingonline.com/housing-search/Massachusetts/Princeton/Wachusett-House-Corporation/4416/
Although it...
No disrespect, but I completely disagree. You're not the only local on here and I've done this route hundreds of times. This is the way everyone I know in town cuts through to the Pike who doesn't want to go 190 to 290 or through 146 in Grafton. BSR takes you right over 68 and through Rutland...
One quick thought since I have been commuting back to visit family in Princeton for 20 years after leaving to go to college...Brooks Station road is on the quickest route (avoiding highways) from the Mass pike. GPS will often route that way from Sturbridge to Spencer, Rutland and then Princeton...
There are a lot of people in town who do not have internet (at least decent internet). Those that do either have DSL if you are within a short distance of the town common, dial-up, the rapidly diminishing failed town wireless access, or satellite. They are in the middle of a huge initiative to...
It is a very quiet town. It may be surprising, most homes in town do not have central air conditioning, but if course some use window units which would muffle the sound. I'm guessing it was pretty hot the day it happened.
To be honest with you, I lived there for 25 years and never gave it a second look. Rumor in town is that she was not killed where she was found. I don't know if that means she was killed somewhere completely different, or if she was killed in proximity to where she was found. Again, small...
If there even was a car. I really doubt she was shortcutting using it, being private property and everything. It is very easy to miss unless you are specifically looking for it and know it's even there.
Yes. My entertainment growing up there was every Thursday reading the police log in The Landmark. Princeton being the smallest and most rural of the 5 town district, the police calls were always about squirrels in basements, fox acting strange, welfare checks, and suspicious vehicles on rural...
The town has farmland, but not around this specific area, just lots of wooded lots with many acres. Yes, hunting is popular in town. The area she was found has some very nice, large, and well kept homes with long-time residents. Most with kids long since married and moved out.
I believe the land is private (may be wrong), and if it is owned by who I think owns it, I guarantee they are not involved. They are a great family who has been in town since I was born there 36 years ago. They are standup citizens and I am sure they are as upset about this as anyone.
Lucy Keyes was the daughter of one of the first settlers in town who lived on the side of the Mountain (Wachusett) in the mid 1700s. One day her and her sisters (she was around 5 or so if I remember correctly) left to get water and she never came back. Her sisters didn't see what happened. She...
The cemetery on Connor Lane (Woodlawn Cemeter), I believe is the only real active cemetery left in town. There are lots of ancient cemeteries in town, but they are filled with graves from the 1700s-1800s. Woodlawn is the one that the Memorial Day parade always ends up at for the ceremonies. I...
I was talking to my brother about that and the opening on Brooks Station to the "cart path" (you can see it on google maps satellite view with stone wall along it) is a good hiding spot if you were to pull in with a car...don't think you'd notice a car in there while you drove by on Brooks...
Exactly....growing up in Princeton was a dream...nobody locked doors (car or home), you could ride your bike to school or a friend's house without any worry. The is easily the biggest thing to hit the town since Lucy Keyes in the 1700s...which is a story they teach you in 1st grade!
