In order to ask the tech companies to co-operate, you would need to know which apps someone had on the phone, so you would have to go to apple first and I would assume they would be able to produce a list of apps that someone had downloaded from the app store, and it wouldn't be unusual for...
No, an iPhone location is not always recorded. You get to choose exactly what apps can use your location, and you can set up the "find my iPhone" so your phone can be tracked, but you have to decide whether to share your location or not. These features typically use the GPS chip (highly...
Also, if there was a sync after her run, then LE would know for certain, exactly where she ran, what speed she ran, whether she stopped on her run and also that she returned home...
I think the whole "pings from the fitbit" is a mis-understanding of terms, the fitbit in question does NOT have any location information, it just records the number of steps and takes a heart rate reading every 5 seconds.
If you begin an activity (such as running), it will record the heart rate...
Good spot, I think it's more likely to be the Charge 2 Fitbit as one of the standard colours is the aqua band, and I can't see that colour available for the other models. It also looks like the right size for the charge 2 as it's a little wider than some of the others.
This device records heart...
Fitbit devices don't measure heart rate with voltages, instead they use a technology they call PurePulse LED's which use coloured LED's to reflect onto the skin to detect blood volume changes.
More details can be found at their website.
Fitbit's record your heart rate every 5 seconds in normal mode, however if you start an activity e.g. running (either manually or by auto-detection), it will record your heart rate every 1 second.
You can clearly see spikes in your heart rate during exercise, but of course your heart rate...
If you go to settings, privacy and then location services, then check that you've got location services switched on. Then scroll down to maps and check it says "while using the app", then if you open up apple maps, press on the blue arrow near the top right and it should show your current...
The fitbit device by itself doesn't track the run. If you link your fitbit to your iPhone and use the fitbit app on the phone, then the fitbit app will use the GPS chip in your phone to track your run.
After the data is synced, this gives you the ability to see a pretty map to show where you...
Absolutely, I just realised I stated fitbits don't ping, well, I suppose technically they do, as they send out a packet of data via bluetooth to see if there are any bluetooth receivers out there, but as this is a short range (<100 metres), I suspect LE were referring to the cell phone pinging...
Try turning off wifi and put your cellphone into airplane mode, I'm pretty certain it won't allow you to sync, there was a lot of disgruntled fitbit owners who realised you need an internet connection in order to sync.
Fitbit's don't ping.
In order to get any location data from fitbit, a number of things have to happen :
1) You have to link the fitbit to your phone to enable "connected GPS", this then uses the GPS chip within your smartphone to record location information.
2) You have to start the fitbit app...
Sorry bit lengthy, but might be useful information to people without fitbits.
This type of fitbit device basically records three types of information :
1) Steps taken
2) Heart rate
3) Time
The device will take a sample of the heart rate every 5 seconds, unless you are doing an "activity" such...
