Nothing to add to your expert sleuthing. Just wanted to say that my heart breaks for the families of these young men. Knowing that your child could potentially be laying in a hole, covered with dirt, has got to be unimaginably painful.
Apache6f1--in post #6 above, poster mjl1962 has a link to a timeline of Pierce's crimes. Apparently he confessed to killing Billy--but I'm not sure if this was ever proven to be true.
apache6f1, I am so sorry that you had to go through the trauma of finding Billy's remains (yet I do hope that finding the remains gave his family some peace).
I hope you don't mind me asking this--what forest preserve did you find him in?

Doublestop--I can't thank you enough for your post. I never knew his body was found. The detail about Billy being excited to play with the pitching machine his dad was bringing home just broke my heart. So typical of a little boy that age. I hope that his family has found some peace.
