I've heard people say that if this had not been a death penalty trial they could have convicted her. Is there any truth to that (being that murder 1 and 2 were both options)?
My fiancé who has not followed the case just said, "There's no smoking gun but it's obvious that she had possession of the body. No death penalty, but definitely life in prison."

EXACTLY! People do not usually understand that. They look at it as more of a status thing. I've been in HR for A LOOONNNGGG time and I have a heck of a time explaining this.
Then technically you were not a salaried exempt employee and could have sued your employer for overtime violations under the FLSA.
BTW- there's a 2 year statute of limitations unless you can prove it was a willful violation (in which case the statute of limitations is extended).

TECHNICALLY, under the Fair Labor Standards Act, salaried exempt employees should NOT keep a time card because it challanges their exempt status. If you would like to see proof of this I can provide it. However, not all companies follow to the letter of the law.
I really can't believe he's showing a video with a roll of duct tape in it. How else were they supposed to hang up posters? This is REALLY grasping at this point.
