Well, I'll check back in five years to see if the trial has started.
/just kidding
But yes, it is frustrating. Welcome to California! At least she's in jail and not behind the wheel of another car.
California will not execute anyone anytime soon. It's galling to me, as the voters approved a measure a few years ago to speed up the endless appeals process, but it hasn't had any effect.
Look up Ricardo Rene Sanders. Gunned down customers and workers at a Bob's Big Boy restaurant in L.A...
There is a moratorium on the death penalty in California and who knows how long it will last. In addition, the time lag between sentencing and execution is measured in decades.
There are actually men still on Death Row who were sentenced in the early 1980's! Appeals exhausted but no execution...
Just a little venting:
How does the court know if the defendant is really 'crazy' or faking mental illness? I mean, looking at the incredibly long court record over FIVE YEARS with endless hearings, so many doctors, and numerous continuances, it seems to me she might be stringing the court along...
Okay! There might be an actual jury trial very soon!
This is what I found when I got lucky and stumbled onto some real information...with a caveat. They might still be adjudicating mental competency.

Jury Trial re: Mental Competency pursuant to 1369 PC...
It will be interesting to see if the boy has remorse for his acts or is a complete sociopath. Are the reports accurate about well-adjusted kids and a happy family, or was their a darker side to their family life?
I just can't fathom this crime.
I can hardly stand to read these stories anymore, they're so horrific. The world seems to be in the grip of deep evil, but I know it's not new.
Death penalty is highly appropriate here. Get this wicked woman to trial asap.
Rest in peace to this little one...
There are monsters among us. It's a profound mystery how a child can do such evil. The psychiatrists will have their work cut out for them.
That being said, a "minimum sentence of 25 years" seems far too little for the heinousness of this crime. Life in prison seems more appropriate, with the...
JMO, but we shouldn't be too quick to connect homeschooling with family annihilation. There are thousands of these families in America and this sort of mass murder by one of the kids is extremely rare.
The long, slow march towards a trial. Typical in California. Much patience required, as this could still take additional years before a jury is seated. No exaggeration. The system is broken.
"Sick" is not the same as insanity, for legal purposes. The bar is much higher. She planned this atrocity in detail, to make sure he would be gone long enough for her to complete the deed.
I would tend to agree the doctors were somewhat complicit with that massive number of prescribed meds...
Sentenced to life without parole.
Good riddance.
Beyond evil.
Rest in peace, Brianna...
Deranged killer who stabbed UCLA student Briana Kupfer 46 times gets life without parole: ‘Beyond evil’
Still NOTHING on these two, and nothing in the media anywhere on this case since early 2023. Very frustrating! Will there ever be a trial for this cold-blooded murder of young Sean Toomey?
What is going on here?!
Does someone here have better search skills than I do? I'm sure someone does...
"during an argument"...
So just grab a knife and start stabbing your little sister to death. That'll settle it.
What is possessing the youth of our nation?! This is all too much!
Next court date: 10/24/24
No further details. I only have access to an inmate locator where all they give is the court date.
She was bound over for trial in July so she will be tried for murder and robbery, but when is anyone's guess.
