Ashley Monroe, 35, had a blood-alcohol content level of 0.183, which is more than twice the legal limit, and had a mostly empty bottle of Crown Royal in her purse, prosecutors said.

Two of the victims — 30-year-old Johnathan Esch and 42-year-old Daniel Harris — died on scene. Paramedics rushed the 14 other victims, ranging in age from 2 to 61, to the hospital. A 38-year-old woman is in critical condition while the others suffered non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.

Monroe’s attorney Ronald Zawacki said his client is a mother of four children, ages 13, 11, 7 and 1, with another on the way. She has worked at the Michigan Secretary of State’s office for about a year-and-a-half, he said.

Somehow I missed this when it happened. How horrible. I know everyone deserves a defense but every bit of what her attorney said was such garbage. I can't even imagine having to get up in court and present an argument for her. She mowed those poor people down and kept going. Personally, I believe anyone that gets behind the wheel after drinking and hurts someone is guilty of premeditation, malice, special circumstances and whatever else you want to call it. MOO, of course.

Wow just reading about this case! She has four children and was pregnant at the time?!?! Not only did she kill people but she’s also robbed her children of a normal healthy childhood. I really hope they have a strong support system around them.
