Schaefer was a sadistic monster and this has all of the boxes checked off for him being the person that took her. That is too bad because it is one thing to lose your life, but his methods of mutilation and torture are what nightmares are made of.

I think one point we need to not forget is that the Zodiac got more thrills out of playing with the police than the actual killing. He wanted the public afraid and in a panic. If he had other victims I have no doubt in my mind that he would have bragged and exploited it for maximum effect.

With advancements in DNA they should take a look at all of the evidence again and use it against him in the retrial. They can also use AI to enhance the video they had of his car and other evidence.

Makes you wonder if the families have copies of the school photo's? If I remember right they always had a stamp with the studio on the backs. The DNA tests are frustrating. They have used it to rule a few people out if I remember right, but have not done anything checking for a link on Ancestry...

I was going to say the same thing. Schaefer was one of the most vile serial killers ever and it's too bad he died with so many victims not accounted for or identified.

I was thinking the same thing. Unfortunately (or Fortunately) he was killed in 1974 so he can't answer if he actually did it.

Usually during a stabbing the perp will leave DNA as they are likely to cut themselves. Hopefully they have items to test.
