I don't think you are alone in hearing that. I also think people sometimes want a reason on why it can't happen to them to keep their peace of mind for themselves and their loved ones. I think Gone Too Soon said it best when she said we must remember that MC was a victim here.

Actually the WW had it up in red breaking news that it was MC on the day she went missing. It was changed within an hour to say they did not know and would need a couple of days to see. I thought that I read that they initially did not find evidence of a crime in the vehicle, but later (after body was found I believe) they did say they were looking at it again. I don't think I ever heard anymore about it after that or if they found anything of significance.
