I agree. I think she looked at maps trying to find that spot again. It makes sense since pretty much every time she was told where the freeway was, she left in the wrong/opposite direction.
Also, another thing I was pondering, as stated by PaulR a few posts back, is that she was stalling all...
You know, the more I think, the more this is the kicker for me. And the stop at the Williams....a last ditch call before she planned to either run away or end it all. As if she needed to hear someones voice one last time...to maybe say something, but then she chickened out. It would...
(scratches chin)...very interesting. I'm pretty darn eager to know where the bag turned up. Along the coastline somewhere? This also shows that LE is working on this and doesn't want to reveal much.
So I have been reading all the posts over the last few days and finally catching up. And here's a few pointers that leave me pretty perplexed...and have me leaning towards the possibility that she was hiding / running from RS.
Also, I'm sorry that I didnt post any links or who the points...
In the video where Shantina is buying the wine, Azriel is wearing a white shirt.....where the report said "red shirt". Maybe nothing, but still something.
<<Smiley was then traced to a grocery store in Boston Harbor before she visited a friend nearby.>>
WHAT?!?!? This is the first I've heard of this. This "friend" could be hiding her out. Unless this is just a mistake in writing.
Also, the whole banging on the garage / items left nearby...
Yes, I agree. I also think they know a lot more than then they are revealing. I had always believed that she stopped for help with someone somewhere along the way from the last house (10:00pm) to the beach, and that's where the foul play occurred. Someone ditching the van and Azriel, and...
Thanks, RubyRed, for the pic.
You know, Calliope, I wondered the same thing....noone could tell, or smell, that she had been drinking? What? Maybe she was just "good" at it...and had gum or mints in her car. Plus, white wine doesn't give off 'much' of an odor as other alcohols do (IMO)...
Wow, I had always thought she drove straight in (very dark, not knowing there was water in front of her). But to drive up to the water, realize it's water, and then somehow reverse around and back up into it, is nuts.
My opinion is that she was very, VERY drunk....maybe to the point of blackout.

On the 'Sunday:10:30 a.m' timeline it says, “The back hatch and the side door was open,” Pribbenow said...
The couple at that house heard the knocks, then activated their alarm system. They looked outside but didn't see anyone. As far as I remember, they didn't call LE until a couple of days later....after they realized there were missing persons & and an abandoned van.
I haven't heard anything...
<<Now that Azriel’s body has been found, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office’s predominate theory — though not the only one — is that Smiley never got off the beach and wound up in the water, too. There were no sightings, and bloodhounds didn’t pick up scents...
Yep, many many questions. But I definitely think she is dead.....there's no way she would be able to hide out this long....unless someone is hiding her. And that is only if she knew someone in the area (that she happened to meet recently on FB,or that 'yearbook' site people were talking about...
OK, so here's where I am with all of this.
Whatever happened to the baggage in the trunk? Was there any? If she never even packed any bags, that would suggest she never intended to go to Castle Rock in the first place.
The knock on the garage door (Grimmer’s house): This still...
Yes, but maybe she was asking for directions to Castle Rock but secretly looking at the map for the route back up there.
I dunno...Initially when I saw her in the convenient stores, the cashiers were taking out the maps and looking at them with her and she didn't seem very interested. I really...
I just had a thought. Maybe she was looking at maps and asking directions in order to get BACK to that specific spot (which she may have been to before) to sleep and hide for a while. Also, I think the "pounding" on the garage was her waking up and realizing Az was gone.
